When I strum the ‘root’ of each chord do you follow it with strumming all 5 of the the strings or just the 4 excluding the root?
@ivorsorefingers Жыл бұрын
Hi Dan. You can play it either way, use which ever suits you best my friend. The 5 string strum after the root note will give you a slightly fuller sound. It's down to personal preference in my book. Ivor

Beautiful song actually by Dave Stamey. I'm so glad people found appreciation for it even if it was through another artist

Dave Stamey covered it as well. It is actually a much older song I think maybe written by Eddie Arnold

Great lesson, I'm just lacking pinky strength to hammer down audibly enough. And I substitute the yodelling with high pitched whistling, if you have a decent whistle you may end up with a nicer result than a bad yodel.

Hi Ivor, are you strumming on the upstroke when your hitting the C and Am chords throughout the song? I didn't hear you mention it but it sure seems that way, thanks! Great Video!
@ivorsorefingers Жыл бұрын
Hi Evan. Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed my lesson. If you check out the lesson from 3m 40secs I break down the C to Am bit and I don't appear to be playing an upstroke. Having said that though I probably never play it exactly the same way every time. Ivor

Week one of guitar and I’ve been trying this since day one. Can’t manage past the hammer part.
@ivorsorefingers Жыл бұрын
Hi John. If you are just starting to play, this song is maybe not the best choice. I would suggest that you just concentrate on playing the chords and come back to the hammer on's at a later time. Ivor
