Oily Hands Diesel Day 2017 - Sunday

What a weekend it was. Near perfect weather - crisp mornings, mild days and very little wind. A record 70+ entrant registrations ensured a very busy time for everyone.
About the 'abomination' competition. A very serious aeromodeller once stated - 'If it's not scale, then it's an abomination'. So this competition is for all those wonderful model aircraft that aren't trying to look like a real aeroplane.

Do I spot a cheater with a glowplug at 2:21? I thought this was diesel day. LMAO. All kidding aside I'm glad to see our hobby still going strong. In all truth I love almost any form of model aircraft, from plastic models that can only just sit there to control line to cheap rc foamys to the uber expensive rc jets with real turbines. And even though I'm mostly involved in the RC side of it, there's definitely something magical about a well trimmed balsa and tissue freeflight that always tickles me. I really enjoy these videos, thank you for posting it and helping to keep our hobby alive.

Little glow engines are permitted, but in FF competition they are at a disadvantage compared to the diesels. Many of our club members share your enthusiasm for model flight; a bit of diversity is always a good thing in a club. Thanks for your comment.

The mass launch is the FF equivalent of dodge-ball. Love it.
