7:13 Dude, these are not onion rings, these are Russian baked goods, called "Kalach" ) They were eaten with tea or hot drinks. In the center of the table you can see a huge samovar, this is a device for heating water for hot drinks. Wood chips were burning inside it, and smoke was coming out through the chimney into the street. And yep, this is a russian game about russians of the early 19th-20th century ) it is better to play it with Russian voice acting and English subtitles.

Nah dog, the English voice acting is literally top-tier. It's geniunely impressive just how good the english VA is.

@@Grim-mler No mate, no matter how brilliant the English voice acting is in your opinion, it sounds like English with a British accent and the articulation of the lips does not correspond to English speech. You should accept it, that russians made the game, and the maximum immersion will be only with Russian speech and English subtitles because the game is about Russians and not about the British 😉

All the comments kept saying that the voice she hears is when the game really hooked them. I was skeptical bc the first half of the videos gameplay has been decent but boring, and i mean how much more can be added with a disembodied voice am i right? But u guys were so right once that voice hits the game gets so interesting. Im definitely going to buy this game when it comes out

I'm just at the bit about the letter, and I had to pause and comment that this is extremely fun looking game and reminiscent of Senua's Sacrifice in a very cool way. Also Jesse's facial expression is telling me this will almost def get a SGS / main channel video on full release. This is wild and I'm gonna be thinking about it all day.

Unless the game explains/implies it later that the voice (likely a demon or an evil ghost) is corrupting the words to the stories to mock the nun as she reads it, or to shake her faith.

The devs have very specific and interesting vision, the 'vibe' is similiar to the russian books by Michaił Bułhakow, it's supposed to be paranoic, psychodelic and weird, you never expect the next move
