The story goes that in 1959, when breeder Bill Coy first saw his sorrel colt, he ran to the house shouting to his wife, “We’ve struck a bonanza!” That statement rang true for Coy’s Bonanza, (Jaguar x Sparky Joann by Littlejoethewrangler) who started on the racetrack, then was shown at halter, winning the 1963 AQHA high-point stallion award and returned to the racetrack to earn his AAA rating.
