I hear coyotes howling from time to time on the North Mountain Reserve right next to where I live in Phoenix, Arizona. Coyotes are such beautiful creatures, as are wolves and foxes. These animals deserve all the respect and understanding that us humans should give them. It’s a shame that humans don’t want to learn more about what they don’t understand and instead they resort to driving such essential creatures to extinction.

Making baseless presuppositions isn't rational and moralizing without context and understanding is equally irrational. I'm not going to chase down coyotes (assuming I could even catch them) and strangle them to death. But whinging about farmers blasting them for killing chickens and pets is not some asinine, heartless endeavor done by cruel, cruel, evil man. I've seen coyotes in the parking lot at my school after my night classes. I didn't feel too particularly safe with two of them and possibly more that I hadn't seen yet. But once I got in my car. I hung out for a while to get a good view of them. As long as there isn't a whole pack of them I usually don't feel too intimidated by the one's I have seen and they're actually pretty chill little wild doggos.

There are coyotes in Clark County Wetlands Park on the eastern edge of Las Vegas. One time, my wife and I watched a pair of coyotes cross the paved walk right in front of us, and another time turned around to see that a coyote had waited until we passed by before sneaking across the walk behind us. I've been up close and personal with coyotes in Joshua Tree and Death Valley, and have seen coyotes on other occasions as well. It's always a pleasure.

I still remember the first time I ever saw a coyote in the wild, it was such an awesome experience! I was traveling to Montana and drove through Yellowstone Park in January with my family and about halfway through we spotted a coyote on the road. We took a bunch of pictures from inside the car and continued driving and the coyote actually followed us for about 15 minutes. It was so amazing because of how close he/she got to us
