I have a trail cam video of a doe and fawn coming into a field. The next clip shows a coyote looking out into the field. A third clip shows the coyote coming back in front of the camera with the fawn in his mouth. Also have several trail cam videos of coyotes chasing grow deer. Even if they don't catch a grown deer, they can sure mess up a hunt and cause deer to change their patterns. Trapping also puts a dent in their numbers. Snares in fence crossings are amazing.

I've taken 6 so far this season and my neighbor took 3 off my farm. There were 17 on the west quarter during mating season so after litters I can only imagine how many there are now. He hasn't a cat left in his yard. Keep shooting!

I've seen coyotes chasing railroad workers around Memphis train yards. Since I'm waiting for a crew anyway to carry them to or from their trains, I've offered to bring my crossbow to see if I could thin the problem down a little. I've yet to get a response from the railroad, possibly due to liability concerns.

Great info on the hunt, the problem I have in Indiana is getting the farmers to allow you to hunt. And rightly so either they have had a bad experience with a bad hunter, or they want a bunch of money to lease their property to hunt. Which in a way I can't blame them it helps with the property taxes, & all. But I am in my late sixties and as a boy I started to hunt with a 20 gauge shot gun, & I could go anywhere & hunt. I use to take my weapon to school back then & leave it in the car and then after school head out with a friend for a hunt. My how things have changed. Sorry didn't mean to whine but just don't know what to do anymore. Enjoyed watching your hunt though, thanks for filming it, & sharing.

Wish I could use a high power rifle for the coyotes but Illinois doesn't allow any caliber higher than .22 LR for hunting so I use a compound bow for yotes.

This is my first time seeing this video and I know it was recorded 6 years ago but that first shot at the coyote you shaved the top of his neck didn't miss it by much. Go back and watch this video and when it shows the first shot in slow motion watch the hair on top of its neck lol. Good job on taking one out. Good work, keep it up guys!

These guys are woefully uninformed about coyotes and coyote controls. They're the reason coyotes are so numerous and widespread compared to what they once were. Shooting one accomplishes nothing. They need to read "Coyote America" by Dan Flores.

The one thing Flores either missed on or intentionally left out was how population levels are dependent on food/water/habitat.... All land has a carrying capacity that is limited by how much food, etc, that it has to support a species... How could hunting them allow the population to increase past what it would if you didn't hunt them if there is no more food/water/shelter/habitat available? There is a saturation point and he ignored that, in my opinion to sell his opinion. Doesn't take a genius to understand population limiting factors.

Gosh, this video is put out by the dept of fish and wildlife, which employs many biologists and the likes. I'm sure some random person on KZbin, who probably read an article on Wikipedia and cherry picked out data supporting their claim, has much more knowledge than biologists in the state, who study them on a daily basis. And besides that, I heard no claims in this video that what they were doing was any form of population control. They were simply shooting problem animals. But I guess you just got on here trying to look smart.

Yeah i killed a coyote with a 22lr 1022ruger so yeah you can kill em with 22. no long shots will maybe just sting them or something but yeah close range up to 95 100yds no problem

i can also kill them with a .177 pellet rifle, but its not a nice thing to do, you need that higher power for the impact and shock damage that puts them down so hard even if its not a clean heart or head shot.
