The DeTomasso Pantera is my more dream car. If I had a couple hundred thousand, damn right I pick one up! However... that's only because (realistically) I could never get my hands on its predecessor: The DeTomasso Mangusta. A more beautiful car has never been designed

I'll take the modern DOHC Coyote because it's way more powerful and economical! Pushrods is no contest with DOHC!

I don’t know. I meant the 351 is cool but the Coyote is a superior engine all the way around. Better fuel mileage, more reliable etc. I just think it’s a shame they took away the gated shifter.

@@glennoropeza3545 How many NASCAR races has the Coyote won? Answer: ZERO. Also, the weight of the Cleveland is slung lower and wider than other engines, so changing that out changes the balance and the performance in the turns. Ask Porsche how much balance matters before getting into one of their widow makers. Also, the power and torque curve of the 351 Cleveland is like no other Detroit engine EVER, capable of Ferrari like numbers of over 2HP per CI of displacement. Besides, 351 Cleveland's make 1,007 NA HP on the Dyno down under, it's about porting the exhaust. Also, with a 351 Cleveland, the Pantera has ZERO competition in its racing class, and is clocked at 206 MPH.

The problem with putting a bigger engine in the Pantera is that it is build to have a 351 cui cleveland engine - the early De Tomaso Mangusta holds a 302 engine but the 351 engine can be build with a stroking crank taking it till 420 plus cubic inches but I would surely start out with the original 351 cleveland IF I OWNED ONE.

To me Pantera GT5 is the best. GTS or GT5S are great too, but better than the early ones. But I like the dash of early Panteras better like this 1972.

The Pantera obviously is my personal favorite it sort of reminds me of some kinda blend of the Lamborghini Jalpa and the Ford GT, except this was respectively faster than the Jalpa for its time. And a chunk of the price less in the 70s & 80s
