I found Baja hoodies a while back. So excited I bought 4. Daughter, sil and hubs quickly each claimed one. Made my way back on a road trip and bought several more. Couldn't imagine cutting up a Baja but I have the one you used. Love these so much!! I even like the look of the remainder of what you cut up!! Thanks for sharing!!❤❤❤

I’ve been on the hunt for a tutorial JUST LIKE THIS. Got a big family that’s moved away and left over with all these towels! This was my first thought of how to upcycle them. Great video. Excited to do it!!
@penelopefp Жыл бұрын
Tip, after making the hood, measure the neckline of the hood. Then before you cut the towel, measure and draw the line before you cut it. But, your v-neck is super cool, so clearly you can make anything work. In fact, it is probably more comfortable to have the extra room to get your head through. Thanks for the idea, Cous'!! And thanks, Orly, for the awesome tutorial. 🥰 and those precious little models.....

So cute and useful! I always appreciate the way you do your voice overs. The information is perfectly clear and concise. Also, this could be super cute as a little kid bath towel. It would be easier than wrapping them up in a traditional bath towel, and also super fun to customize!

The thrift store “hoodie” is called a Baja jacket. Per Wikipedia : ‘In the 1970s, Californian surfers brought these hooded shirts back from surf trips to Baja California in Mexico. They became associated with surfers and surfing in Mexican coastal towns and were worn as beachwear in cool weather.[3] The shirts, called "sudadera de jerga" ("cloth sweatshirt") in Mexico, are also traditionally worn by Mexican-American and Mexican youth….’ *the more you know*

Also, these came out really nice and I like how the patterns mixed.

Shani!!!! It's possible that I haven't seen all your awesome videos, but I was just wondering: while it's still summer (in the northern hemisphere anyway), would you do, (or redo?) a wide brim (for sun shade) summer hat decoration with even maybe materials or notions that people might have at home? But still make it look glam. Think - 70's Jackie Onassis and with huge sunglasses which seemed to have done a come back (for the 3rd time in my lifetime lol)

Ok, Orly, you need DYI ideas, so I’m going to challenge you to turn THIS DYI up a notch. Please, I’m begging you, turn this, DIY into a….. WEDDING PONCHO FOR A BOHO BRIDE!!! Not all brides want to wear a veil on their wedding day. So I would love to see you do this DIY with your beautiful, crocheted tablecloth idea, and may with some beautiful, sparkle trim, or pearls, or whatever leftover trims you have from previous DIY projects! Would definitely tune in to see that!
@Orly_Shani Жыл бұрын
Wait, I cant envision what you're talking about! Do you have a photo or link you could share?
@sissymayemaye Жыл бұрын
@@Orly_Shani …Remember your “Free People” top you DIY’d last year? As soon as I saw the thumbnail for this video, that’s what it reminded me of. If you could take this poncho idea, but use your lace tablecloth idea from the free people video, maybe make it a split front poncho or give the option to open and close it? But definitely, definitely, definitely an oversized hood that will kind of frame the brides face. That’s what I really want for myself if I ever got married again. I would be a mature bride, so a veil really wouldn’t work in my case? But this poncho idea, with a huge oversized hood that would frame my face as I’m walking down the aisle, would be a wonderful Boho chic way to really showcase my outfit, and it could be something I could use over again, on my honeymoon as a beach, cover up, and when I get back home in every day wear. YOU GOT THIS ORLY!!! I literally got the idea by combining two of your videos, so you’ve already done it, you just don’t realize it yet, lol lol! I just wanna see you bring both ideas together and blow us away with a bridal poncho that would sell out immediately if people bought it online!

I love most of your videos but this project is going to have a LOT of fraying and raveling where the unfinished edges are. The pocket is going to be strange, too, unless you cut off the inside later. You didn’t show this so I’m assuming you have this double layered pocket with the place where the hands go having actually two open layers.
@m.d.52166 ай бұрын
You should have shown the finished ponchos on adults. If you double over even a large beach towel it will still come out short on an adult. Also it seems pretty wasteful to cut up a hoodie just to save a little sewing making the pocket and hood, and you don't mention how difficult it can be for most sewing machines to sew through the resulting 3-4 thick layers.
@JMBBrasil Жыл бұрын
You have to close the sides I. Let her for you to be able to change your swim suit wearing them…
