Sir, I cannot thank you enough for this post. I had a issue with my a/c. It all happened in one day. I went to a local mechanic, he said I needed a condenser and something else, plus a new cabin filter. All total $3,750 dollars. I have the estimate, but then I thought. I buy filters for my home and thier only $ 15.99 at home depot. So I bought some freon, called my brother and my a/c has been working fine. Oh the price for the cabin filter $ 120.00 bucks.....these people should be arrested. This type of sham should be illegal.....thank you once again. And God bless you too!!!!💪🏿🙏🏾✌🏿

You rock I appreciate your help so much. I did this in less than 10 minutes. Two local shops wanted to charge me $70. I found a filter on eBay, for $11.50. I am definitely in shock for how much money they charge. Thank you so much again.

Thank you! I just had this replaced today for $56.00. Not so bad, but I’ll do it myself next time. I had asked about what can be done to maintain ones AC system instead of just waiting until that huge compressor bill. He said replacing this filter can help keep the AC blowing cold. Now I can do it myself more often.

I’m going to make a compilation of mechanic videos that instead of clarifying and showing you how to do it and what to look out for a jumó cut occurs and the one part I need help with is not captured on film 😅😂. It’s nothing personal. Just funny. I work full time I change many cabin filters a day but in order to not break anything I google a video out of caution. I flipped the tab on top and you jump cut the part I wanted to see which was do I just yank the thing out? It just isn’t obvious even to someone who has changed 500 cabinfilters

OMG people! It is not a scam for a dealership to charge $100 for this job. First off your comparing apples to oranges when replacing it with an "after market filter". AC/Delco is going to be more $ as it is "direct replacement" and made specifically for the vehicle. Have no idea how many microns per whatever the substance is made of. But it IS what the heater/ac system requires. Is it "that important"? No...just saying is all. Aftermarket "in this case" does not matter. On other parts? Of course. And so this man said the filter was $10 or $11. I don't know, was not listening to be honest. But...was there shipping cost to consider? Or did the fairy godmother just drop it off for free. And how many people did he have to speak to, how many video's did he watch, how many phone calls, how much time at computer, etc. etc. So now his 20 minutes or half hour is more like hour ++. And what if part shipped is wrong one??? etc. etc. etc. So he was lucky it was the correct one in which he had to wait a week for to be shipped. Each day waiting in anticipation for it to arrive...thinking about it probably couple times a day for a week. And did he blow out the shit that was in the housing that the filter did not filter out? Did he check to make sure the ac system temp was not an issue? Did he notice any problems while on his knees like actuators gears worn or or or....or freaking anything! NO he did not. A car dealership charges about $100 per hour for service. They own their property which is usually on a major road. They have very high expenses and that is why they charge $100 per hour. And on some days or weeks have no service work and still have to pay expenses. So in closing, if someone has a little bit of mechanical knowledge and knows which way to tighten a screw and either wishes to save a little money or enjoys working on their own vehicle then he or she SHOULD do a minor job like this. But don't knock what a dealer charges unless you can raise a vehicle in the air...take out the transmission...rebuild the transmission and put it back together all for the same $100 per hour.

Do a little homework buddy. The cabin filter has NOT A THING to do with the workings of the heater or AC lol. Your big long speech and you don't even know what you're talking about. The cabin filter merely filters the air you breathe in, in your vehicle. That's it, that's all.
