CP 2210 (GP20C-ECO) Departs Chicago Union Station with Track Inspection Train, 06.21.13

Almost brand-new, Canadian Pacific GP20C-ECO #2210 pulls a track-inspection train headed for the C&M Sub (Metra's Milwaukee District North Line) out of Track 15 on the north side of Chicago Union Station. Behind the loco is a boxcar converted for use as a head-end-power generator for the office and inspection cars behind it. The former passenger varnish still looks classy despite its now-utilitarian function.
Immediately after the inspection train departs, Metra F40PH-2 #115, the 'Village of Oak Lawn', leaves on an adjacent track with a Milwaukee District North Line train. Presumably, the scoot will follow the track inspection train northward.

Oh over here we have a 'Network Rail Measurement Train' (NMT) and it has been affectionatley been nicknamed the 'Flying Banana' because it is a yellow Intercity 125 HST.
