Some of the most stirring steam train footage i've seen on all of KZbin (and there's lots!). Fantastic and unique shot staging, showing off the Empress' running gear, which is what steam lore is all about...South Sask and a beautiful Canadian designed / built Hudson steam locomotive restored to it's original glory is something to see, what a wonderful world we live in. Thanks to CPKC for making this happen. Now, they MUST restore a Selkirk!

Thanks for watching - im glad you enjoyed the video. It was a lot of fun chasing her down and seeing her running down the rail. A sight I’ve never really experienced before as steam locomotives were long retired when I was born. I was born in the wrong era. Thanks again for watching and for the kind words.

It’s a travesty how the Selkirk in Calgary is just rotting outside. No care at all for her. I would love to see her running too but sh would be a beast to restore and move back to the mainline. We can dream though!!!

I have a HO model 4-8-4 Hudson style engine plus one or two other types. Keep the models in my wife’s old China cabinet. 😂. Got to love steam engines.

Sounds correct. They were hauling ore off of the Iron Range into Duluth with steam into the 1960s. Incredible torque. Thank you Nathan.

Thanks for the video Nathan! Pretty cool train! We had a huge steamer gone thru the rail in my town a few years ago. Wasn’t supposed to stop but did because of the new railroad crossing they put in right before it came thru

Thanks Gene, yah it’s a beautiful train. Was it the Union Pacific’s Big Boy that went through your town? That ones on my bucket list to see one day! Thanks for watching.

Beautiful runpasts (runbys); lots of work here. Here's the appreciation of one who's been trackside for 60 years, watching CN, CP and others (and trill does; but is not a foamer. Wonder why CPKC left their hydrogen fuel cell loco behind? In a video of the departure from Calgary (available here); the Green hydrogen fuel cell loco is clearly seen, spliced within the consist, ahead of the FP units. Let's opine, that it was more useful for data and revenue service in Western Canada; rather than on a publicity trip, and likely uncoupled at Moose Jaw; for return to Calgary, as part of head end power for a revenue train.
@ironman34065 ай бұрын
Hello thank you for watching and for the great comment. The hydrogen locomotive was uncoupled at Medicine Hat AB and from what I heard it was only along for the ride to do with something provincial government related. I personally think it looks better without it as far as authenticity goes, and I think made for much better pictures too. Thanks again for watching

BEAUTIFUL piece of equipment!! Are they gonna set it up as a tourist train crossing Canada? Like the Orient Express? Just cant replace the feel and sound of a steam engine!

O have no idea what the future plans are for this train once it’s back from its journey - that would sure be a cool experience to ride in it though. Thank you for watching.

Correction. The second tender is on loan from the friends of the 4449. Which run and take care of SP GS4 4449. It's her Auxiliary tender and is from a cab forward
@ironman34065 ай бұрын
My mistake thanks for the clarification - I didn’t think I said all 3 tenders belonged to her, just that she had 3 for the water requirements. If I misspoke though, I’m man enough to admit my mistake. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video other than that?
