2816 is the only operating 4-6-4 Hudson in North America, however, her origin is more legendary than you think. The Montreal Locomotive Works was the Canadian subsidiary of the American Locomotive Company and she’s actually an ALCO product and her class are the cousins of the legendary New York Central 4-6-4 J Class Hudsons. She not only carries on the legacy of her class, but also the legacy of the Hudson type and the New York Central’s J Class Hudsons. It would be crazy if she was cosmetically changed to masquerade as one of the Central’s Hudsons like 5340 or 5344.

She’s hauling serious tonnage too. At least equal to 21+ 80ft full scale heavy steel coaches There are 15 coaches 2 car body diesel’s which I low balled at equal to 1.5 coaches each rounding to 3. And two auxiliary tenders converted to hold purely oil or purely water some tenders fully loaded weigh as much as 1.5 coaches or more on their own. So I rounded it to a low estimate of 21 fully loaded coaches of weight Not counting the primary tender as it usually is factored as part of the locomotive in its total weight.

Your camera is amazing. Not only does it pick up the sounds of 2816 as it goes by and keeps going, it also made all of the raifans disappear, giving the optical illusion that you were chasing it all by yourself.😅😅😅 Also: does the 2816 have an "electric-fake" steam whistle? It seemed to have different sounds at different places.
@LouisianaRailProductions7 ай бұрын
So along with the 6 chime, there’s an air whistle mounted towards the front of the engine. I’ve heard the chime deafens the crew inside and gives the fireman a “shower”.
@regularguy72667 ай бұрын
It's not a fake whistle, it's a Canadian Pacific 5 chime whistle. The reason why it sounds different compared to a normal Canadian Pacific 5 chime is first because it's operated on an air valve so that it's louder. Second, my guess is that this whistle was tuned differently as it originally came from a Canadian Pacific 2-10-4 steam locomotive.

It’s a beautiful consist, but frankly, I am so sick of seeing mismatched cars, from different era’s, and from a dozen different manufacturers on excursions. It’s one thing to see that on a Museum Excursion due to their filing status as a historical or restoration based facility, but when you see it on a train ran by a multi billion dollar company with enough money to have the correct equipment is very obnoxious. Call me neurotic, dumb, or just a foamer, but it’s just something I do not like to see. Especially with that ugly super dome in the middle of the consist. It’s a full scale train, not a Bachmann scale model.
