That dog was trained to be a TOOL. It did not succeed in its role, as a tool. Better the tool destroyed than the Human tool-handler. Tools are always replaceable (not cheap) however Human Souls are individually irreplaceable. just sayin’

Only thing is if an officer had been killed, it would have had a devastating effect on close friends and family. But the show must go on and work will always be there.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. I am a born and raised Torontonian. It is because of the selfless acts of bravery by countless unknown officers and K9s that I can raise my children in this city. The city that has rapidly deteriorated due to our rising violent crime rates. To Sgt. Smith, his family and to every member of the Toronto Police Sevice - I am truly sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the pain that Sgt. Smith is going through. Seeing him, and other officers, straining to hold their composure spoke volumes in moments of complete silence. And now to our fallen officer, K9 Bingo... you are one of too many unsung heroes that we have lost far too soon. Your paw print impact on this city is felt today. Your bravery and loyalty to your job and your handler was without question. I have no doubt that your sacrifice likely saved the life of your partner. You didn't deserve this. The words "thank you for your sacrifice" do not feel like they are strong enough to adequately convey how we feel. As it is with the loss of any public servant in the line of duty. All I can say is that I am grateful for all you have done to keep our city safer and that I am so terribly sorry that your life was given to ensure the apprehension of a dangerous individual.
