Great video!!! So many good points! I truly think going the CPA route showed me how to equally look at the numbers as well as the big picture - cause the numbers only tell you so much, but you have to learn to step back and look at the situation as a whole and involve qualitative factors as well into your decision making (in real estate that would include your personal preference for tenants, your ability to do renos yourself/the connections you have, your other goals and how they complement or get in the way of your real estate ventures)

Amazing content Matt! I'm a CPA in my 4th year as an auditor with a regional firm and 100% agree with what you say. I've always been interested in real estate and am about to buy my 2nd property (first investment property). Also, I'm currently interviewing for an assistant controller position with a large home builder to make my exit from public accounting. Do you have any advice as I make this transition? I'm really excited that there is a resource like yours that is pretty much laying the blueprint for exactly what I have always wanted to do!

Great video! Thank you for sharing your insights on becoming a CPA. You and Mit emphasize that the exposure and experience you get from a CPA can help you pursue creative endeavors, understanding the inner workings of a variety of businesses, etc. I have the impression that this is one of the advantages of public accounting vs industry. I am more interested in the idea of industry rather than public, but would industry experience still provide the benefits you discussed sufficiently (relative to public practice)?

Hello, Great video! i have a question if you can please answer me. I'm a finance student ill graduate in 2021, but currently on an accounting internship in a CPA firm, I am stuck between two ideas either complete masters in finance (super affordable in my country Lebanon, public university but ranked decently) or go for a CPA (3YEARS) after graduating. Personally i like both accounting & finance even i have been investing/trading since 2019. I thought that doing a CPA is better since ill have 3years experience when i finish it but if i go to MS finance ill have 0 experience, (not easy to find part-time internships). I searched a lot but people only compare CPA to Masters in accounting, not Finance. I am good in both & I like both. which one should i pursue? Thanks in advance

@@CPACareerPaths Thank you very much! Another question I have is, English is not my native language, but do you think it'd be just a waste of time to study second foreign language while studying for CPA? I'm interested in second foreign language, French for my potential future career in accounting, but I've been wondering if I should just focus on CPA or this is something I could keep balance with both.
@CPACareerPaths
@CPACareerPaths 4 жыл бұрын
New Horizon Learning another foreign language is a long-term process (could take you years to be fluent) while passing the CPA exam is a short-term process (need to complete all 4 parts in 18 months). I would suggest to mainly focus on the CPA exam to pass all 4 parts first and to spend a little bit of time (10-15 minutes everyday ONLY) studying French at the same time. Learning another language requires you to practice frequently and continuously. Once you pass the CPA exam, you can invest all your time in learning French.
@newhorizon4610
@newhorizon4610 4 жыл бұрын
@@CPACareerPaths OK. Thank you! So, let me just make sure if I understood you. Pass CPA exam first without studying French, and then start investing my time on French after getting CPA done?
@CPACareerPaths
@CPACareerPaths 4 жыл бұрын
New Horizon For example, if you have 4 hours studying everyday, I would suggest to spend 3 hours and 45 minutes on the CPA exam and only 15 minutes on French language. After you pass the CPA exam, you could spend all 4 hours on French language.

Id rather not go back to high school to get the credentials as it would take 2 to 3 years just to get the requirements to enter a university and as of current I am understanding the accounting equation will relative ease and couldnt see myself having a problem with more intermediate or harder topics Id love to hear your suggestion thanks!

There are a lot of college programs where you can end up getting your degree and credits for getting your cpa. Without the designation - it’ll be tough to climb the corporate ladder and become an auditor (You may be able to get an internal audit position) But if the goal is to become a public accounting auditor - I think you’ll find it much more difficult without a designation or being on path to designation... If you reach out to CPA Canada or CPA Ontario - they should be able to help provide you options and give you a fuller understanding of your options/opportunities etc
