Not anymore. I left in 2019. Moved there in 2007, I was young, followed my job. I was more progressive minded back then, after a few incidents of my property being stolen and damaged, and the Chicago PD telling me there’s nothing they can do, even though the perpetrators were caught on camera, caught with my property, and confessed, they were released and retaliated against me and my family for daring to call The police. I filed paperwork, lawyered up, still nothing was done to address the threats and continued property damage. We decided to leave the city as basically as a law abiding citizen I had no ground to stand on. In a nutshell my story seems way too common. I don’t blame the police per se as they were handcuffed by years of bad policy and bad city leadership. Leaving was the best thing I ever did.
