British Heart Foundation (BHF) celebrated its 6th annual Heart Hero Awards on Wednesday 6 December 2023 at Glaziers Hall in London.
The annual awards recognised some of our CPR Heroes who demonstrated incredible courage and bravery by attempting to save a person’s life from cardiac arrest by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR.
At 2am, Lee suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while in the bathroom.
His wife Krystalla, who was eight months pregnant with their first child, found Lee on the floor and had to force the door open as he had fallen against it.
As a primary school teacher, Krystalla had been trained in CPR and she was able to perform this lifesaving skill on Lee until an ambulance arrived.
Lee nominated Krystalla as his CPR Hero, as without his wife’s calm and quick actions he wouldn’t have survived to see their daughter be born four weeks later.
