@eddief67803 жыл бұрын
@@reds_4life23 idk if this helps but, Im a lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) In NYC and I know for us at my pool, we use a CPR mask that is made for both adults and children. The mask goes over the distressed persons nose, down to the chin so you won't need to worry about closing the nose. It has a nozzle on the other end of the mask that lets you push air through and filters out everything going in your direction so that nothing gets through your mouth like vomit, or anything that obstructs the patrons mouth when you are doing breaths. pinching the nose while giving breaths is just to secure the air going down the airway, but not everyone does it that way. Redcross is always updating their methods.

My son choked on a penny when he was 3yrs old and my first instict was to slap him hard on his back(thought i broke his ribs) but the damn penny was stuck so i immediately stuck my two fingers in his mouth and dig for that penny until i felt it and grabbed it,i now see that was a bad move and i felt my fingers turning into rubber and stretching like spaghetti,he threw up after and my eyes filled with tears and a sense of relief..when your a young mother and you don't know CPR your motherly love will do whatever it takes to save your child,my son terrible 2 lasted until terrible 3 and it was a nightmare! Same😫...but it was a birthday balloon that popped & my 2yr put it in her mouth. As soon as I noticed her making gagging motions & holding her throat, i didn’t even think and stuffed 2 fingers down her throat to pull it out . The whole time I think I forgot to breath myself. I was so relieved when it came out that I nearly passed out crying. Since then I watched these type of videos probably once a year just to keep myself in the know how and that next time I’ll be able to remain calm as well knowing what I know.

So my first instinct was to grab that apple piece out of his throat and hey it worked but I was so so scared. I've heard of a lot of women doing this and it just happened to work out (thank god). Correct, neutral position for infants.
@deniseobrien56177 жыл бұрын
So why is this women tilting the head for both opening the air way and also giving breaths?
@cprkids7 жыл бұрын
she is tilting the head into the neutral airway opening position, as an unconscious baby (because of their large head) will be in flexion and will need to be moved into neutral. The extension head tilt for children and adults is much more significant - the chin should be pointing to the ceiling.
@deniseobrien56177 жыл бұрын
what she is doing is tilting the the head of an infant, plan and simple!!! Whether its little or great, its still wrong as far as I've been instructed. For Children it is a slight head tilt and adult is greater head tilt. Royal living saving Australia stressers NO TILT WHATSOEVER FOR INFANTS. But she is great in every other technique. regular lay people or non medical people no longer have to check for a pulse. just for the chest to rise and fall. if the chest is not rising then start compression's immediately
