Fitted a brandnew Lucas/CAV spring starter to an engine once. Cranked it up to what the maker said, pulled the lever and the spring broke. Engine started but it was a one shot deal.

@@robertbennett9949 Had it replaced under warranty. Engine was installed into the boat and the new new one broke again for the owner. So a factory hand-start system was sourced and installed. Problem solved.
