Your concerns are correct, but this engine was made as a fun project or display piece. It was never meant to drive anything like an RC car or boat so you won't actually run it a lot. I would wash every single component of that before starting. You always have aluminum dust on everything. Threaded holes, recessed areas with tight corners, ect. The grey grit at the bottom of the flushing cup, after flushing,, will open your eyes. You create/grate a bit more if o-rings are installed dry and it's a tight fit. Be very generous with the assembly lube,,no matter the instructions,, that just show drops of oil. CRC QD electrical cleaner and compressed air until dry and clean. The CRC wont attack rubber components,, but will soften certain open cell foams. Use a magnifying glass to be sure your clean. Very cool little 4 popper. Thanks!.
