Thank you for this video! It was straight forward and easy to understand! This Carry Forward option was exactly what I was trying to figure out for my survey!

Hi Dr Alex. Thank you for the presentation. I am having difficulty in doing piped text. Basically, I did format my question which include a piped text from the selected answer choice of a previous question's answer. But the formatted text doesn't show up at the preview.

If you’re only previewing the question or block (as opposed to previewing the whole survey), and if that question that the piped text comes from is not part of that preview, then the piped text won’t show up because you haven’t answered the question in your preview - so there’s no value to pipe through. But if it’s not showing up when you’re previewing the whole survey, that suggests an error in the coding somewhere.

Hi Dr. Alex, I created a matrix short answer question with 4 statements (CURRENT day 1 # of attendees, PAST year Day 1 attendees, CURRENT Day 2 # of attendees, PAST YEAR day 2 Number of attendees, etc) and 5 scale points (categories; Monday Tuesday, wed, Thursday Friday). I used embedded values from the imported file (past year responses) into the respective column cells for past year. In the preview of the survey I do not see the previous year figures I embedded. Any insight on how to display the figures? Thank You!

Sorry for the slow reply. It depends on how you're previewing it. If you're just previewing an individual question, then you won't see some embedded values, because of where they are in the survey flow. But if you're previewing the entire survey, then it's time for some debugging. One useful thing that I've seen done is a "question" that just shows embedded data values (via piped text). So, have this pop up at various points in the survey to check that you're embedded data values are working as intended. (Then remove it before actually releasing the survey.)
