Recently, the Crab Devil team acquired a piece of Tampa Bay history, the iconic Fun-Lan Drive-In theater marquee. Fun-Lan Drive-In theater, one of the last drive-ins in the Tampa Bay area, has closed its doors. To honor and preserve the history of Fun-Lan, Crab Devil has officially taken ownership the iconic marquee that greeted guests for 71 years.
“We at Crab Devil are devastated at the loss of Fun Lan, the last of Tampa’s original drive-in theaters, along with all of the vendors and families that made it so special for all these years.”, comments CEO of Crab Devil, Devon Brady. “The old sign is the most visible and recognizable symbol of that legacy, and we feel that it’s the least that we can do to preserve it for posterity and celebrate the joy that it brought to Tampa for so long.”
The historic signage will be featured in “The Peninsularium,” Crab Devil’s premiere immersive art attraction opening in Tampa Summer 2022. “The Peninsularium” will highlight Florida’s eccentric culture and curious history, making Fun-Lan’s infamous marquee a perfect addition to the much-anticipated experience.
Crab Devil is thrilled to save this piece of Tampa history and showcase it through its unique art and cultural experience, The Peninsularium, opening in 2022.
