What a coincidence dude, was just watching some of your older spider crab vids and showing em to my GF, gotta spread the channel lol. Actually been binging your vids all day! Any chance we could see a BTS of the restaurant one day? I absolutely love the channel Eater for all the series they do on the farms, restaurants, foraging etc and you're already doing 2/3rd of that, hahaha.

For our Italian Christmas dinner, we always do a spaghetti where we cook a whole dungenuss crab in the sauce. The flavor it adds is a mind fuck. I always wanted to try it with spider crab since it’s under less pressure. I did your crab cake recipe with them and it was phenomenal.

Hey brotherino! Good to see ya back in the keys. All the back home vids were awesome too! Since you spend alot of time in the keys are you losing your cold tolerance from back home when you head home and its chilly there,lol? I couldnt imagine being in florida for so long and coming back to our winters here in canada. Ha ha The winter never gets easier living in my climate for my whole life but we definitely have a better tolerance for it than those that live in a sunny and warm destination. It still sucks for us anyways thats for sure. Keep on putting em out man cuz we love ya!!!

Molting!
@baitguru9197
@baitguru9197 Жыл бұрын
I don't understand how the claw meat can disappear. I was down after Christmas with my wife, and we drove up to Tavenier to lobster dive with Conch Repub. While pulling in Lobsters, I noticed this extremely large Carribean King Crab (I am a bit arachnophobic and was startled). I noticed some video's earlier in the year of divers harvesting them. After harvesting 6 lobster, and the crab (also shot some squirrel fish that I consumed to test) we drove back up through Tampa on our way home to North Texas, and stopped at my mothers. We cooked the lobster, and King Crab. We ate one lobster, and my mother planned on eating the crab later, and put it in the fridge. She later told me that the crab was hallow. I didn't understand how that was possible until just now (thank you for the explanation). Odd, as the crab did attempt to pinch me (or so I thought), but then I am a little arachnophobic :).

Will what rule are you referring to? I regularly shore dive in marathon and Islamorada. The only regulation I’m aware of is no diving around improved shoreline during mini season and some areas a few days into regular season. What am I missing?
@CookingWithClams
@CookingWithClams Жыл бұрын
“During the July two-day sport season (July 26-27, 2023) and regular lobster season (Aug. 6, 2023-March 31, 2024) no snorkeling or diving is allowed within 300 feet of residential or commercial shoreline.” This spot is neither yet in my last video I got a ton of comments saying what I was doing was illegal. I’ve had fwc stops there during mini season to check my bag and say that area is fair game.
@joshwheeler3297
@joshwheeler3297 Жыл бұрын
@@CookingWithClams assuming this is the general key west area, or other unincorporated areas, that rule only applies for the first 5 days of regular season. But I think I get what you’re saying now, your other video (during mini) got a bunch of comments…. Yeah you’re 100% right. Commercial or residential improved. Unless they are calling that cutout in the mangroves as “improved” 😂…. You’re 100% legal.

A floater or a crab with little meat is a crab that has just shed and has not grown into its new shell. That's why you never keep a really clean looking crab. The ones with growth and stains on the light part of there shell almost always have full shells.

Aloha. First of all, sorry for the floater. Did you fry the rice wraps just for the texture, cause I know they’re not usually used that way? Did your 10$ garage sale propane stove give up the ghost? But more importantly, I think it’s extraordinary that you chartered a captain, became friends, became roommates (as a third wheel), have remained friends, and they asked you to offiate their wedding! I usually lose friends just by the roommates part. Good on you!
