Crabbing and Dock Fishing at Barnet Marine Park | EP39

This week, we switch things up and head to Barnet Marine Park in Burnaby, BC to go crabbing and fishing from the dock!
Barnet Park has a really spacious dock/pie!. It's easy to access and is great for a trip with the family; perfect for a weekend barbecue trip while crabbing and fishing. Although we only got one Red Rock Crab, there were many undersized Dungeness crabs down there! There was also some action fishing, with Sole Fish and Flounders down there. We assume that you would do much better with Herring or Shrimp as bait! Lack of fish was probably more due to the way we fished rather than there not being fish around the Barnet dock.

what are the best places to go crabbing in the lower mainland? Also, do you think it's better to get a paddle board and go deeper in barnet marine?

we not super sure this year, cates park area is usually pretty good. would suspect going deeper would be more productive

You need subiki rig eith squid, worm or shrimp to be effective on that dock. Or any multiple hook like high low rig w/ small hooks like #6, or #8. Fresh bait only.

Where in Barnett Marine Park is that pier? The only one I know about for crabbing is that old circular concrete one that gets busy all the time.

Ok Nevermind. That’s the pier to the immediate east. I’ve never seen anyone crabbing off there but I guess you can catch some. The concrete pier is good for red crabs, unless you have a strong arm, then you have a shot at legal dungeoness.

Was there this weekend, park worker was telling me it’s over crabbed and people keep undersized ones so it hard to get any decent ones, cates park has the biggest crabs iv seen and caught in person if u guys get a chance to hit it
