My 2 cents, never wear a wader in a surf zone by the ocean. Waders are for river fishing. If u got knocked down by a sneaky wave, water gets in ur wader (even if u tight the belt correctly) and stop u from getting back on ur feet. I usually put myself in a wetsuit (like in the video, but i have the orange outfit for wind proofing too) or my paddling drysuit.

The stone looks like a chert. There is no jade at Ocean Beach. For Nephrite jade, you have to go further south. You can also get jadeite jade in California too.

it was a california jade :P I have been hunting for them in jade cove every year and they are pretty easy to identify. I actually found them in a pebble beach up north. But jadeite jade is a new thing for me! do you have more information about where and how u can found them? never seen any report of them.

Yea didnt realize the sound effect problem. Definitely got the lesson. I usually wears a neck gaiter that is easier to put on and off but left it at home so have to use this backup. Ocean beach have quite some traffic and ppl approaches u to check out ur catch every now and then so bringing a mask is still necessary I think

I did meet a friend on that beach lol. but if talking about fishing buddy, i have been only go out with couple of very close kayak fishing buddies only since the pandemic and we stays in our on kayak all the time. i feel like if fishing on the shore, going out solo is probably a better idea.. :(

I got the same bucket backpack, awesome idea but pretty hard to lift and put on and off, they just need to improve it more on the straps. Good to see females fishing and crabbing

Personally, wearing this backpack makes me too conspicuous. Sometimes when I am hunting, I want to be discreet. I wear a regular backpack instead, the one you can stuff a basketball inside with a top flap. It is the perfect size and function.

I only hook keepers during high tide. zero luck during low tide even though everyone else seems to hit limits around then, lol. Never thought you try a sputnik with a crab snare though.. isn't it a lot more difficult to reel in? I feel like I would break it.

the biggest problem of fishing the high tide is the current. usually ppl dont use such heavy weight so it is hard to keep the snare staying at the bottom when it is high tide. other than that, high tide is actually better cuz the crab is more active and feeds better. so if u only gets crab at high tide, it could be that your weight settings r all good, but just need better bait. if u r using squid, make sure they are fresh, and if u can, get some smelt or other oily fish instead the sputnik - yea definitely difficult to reel in. but i think it helps when the current and waves r so strong

A lot of people like to buy crabslayer's snares but I think they are too expensive. You can buy an average one for ~$8 I think. If you live in the SF bay area, there is a good store in south San Jose you can browse and buy.

The one i use is AirFly® Custom Made Crab Snares , i got them on ebay. I personally like it very much! also ppl recommend crabslayer's snares too, a lot of positive reports too. I will probably try it out some time :P

fishery supply, good store, pretty good collections of tackles. cheap ones works too, but less smooth of loop lines, and loop direction sometimes messed up. usually needs extra weight too. If u don't tend to loss ur snares then getting a good quality is actually a better idea.

@@skinnypenguin5857 Yes extra weight is needed for sure. I don't know much about the loop lines. I guess I can always DIY my own loops to make it better.
