Idk it seemed kind of rude casting directly in front of someone fishing esp when they were there first 🤷🏽

Nice mushrooms! I’ve learned that mushrooms with high water content is better when it’s dried-fried separately then added to dish with seasoning and butter

Hello, I got the basically the same net as you, the 4 ft one, with 1lb weight. We tried catching anchovies today at the Wharf but they would get scared and run off. We also noticed that our net is pretty slow to descend to the bottom despite having 1lb per foot. Is it important to be using the net in more shallow water toward the front of the wharf? Note the entire Monterey Bay has been completely taken over by anchovies for the last month or two, so I know we had a pretty good chance on catching them. We ended up using sabikis lol

I recently started following Shad fishing on the Sacramento River, and would love to experience this type of fishing. I’m 68 yrs. Of age and wondered if there’s a location along the river that’s not too far to walk to, from the parking area. I can walk, but not for a long distance due to knee issues. Any info is very much appreciated. Thank you. Ed

I'm curious. Considering the clams have their shells shut tightly until they're dead, how well does the flavor of the garlic, pepper, and sauerkraut actually flavor the meat? I'd think that would mostly just flavor the shells...

I am using that same pink jig head bait with a 4' lead on my crapie 4'5" ugly stick with a floating weighted bobber, AND my stick and my 5'6" ultra light with a 1oz weight on a 4' lead on a swivel, have not even had a bite yet! I've been our 4 times for shad this season and got nothing! Did I miss the run? So discouraging!

Do you need a mushroom permit? Is this area considered a national forest? What is the limit per person? I want to try but understand that the penalties can be very high.

What did you do with the back after taking off the fillets? Best tasting part of a sad! Dredge in a mix of flour and cornmeal salt pepper and garlic powder then pan fry till golden brown.

ILLEGAL why do you choose to clear out an area of fish? What you’re just gonna move to another spot once they are all Gone while also ruining it for the next person just trying to have fun?

Wrong this is legal, you can read the regs for 2023. Anchovies are plentiful here you couldn't fish it out if you wanted to. This is a common sight at SC wharf wouldn't be if it was illegal as you say wildlife.ca.gov/language/en%20US/COQA/tag/hawaiian-throw-nets#gsc.tab=0 Hawaiian throw nets Q: I’d like some clarification on Hawaiian type throw nets. The regulations state that dip nets of any size and baited hoop nets not greater than 36 inches may be used to take herring, Pacific staghorn sculpin, shiner surfperch, surf smelt, topsmelt, anchovies, shrimp and squid. Does this mean there are no size restrictions for Hawaiian throw nets because they are different from dipnets and baited hoop nets? A: Yes, but only north of Point Conception, Santa Barbara County. California Code of Regulations, Title 14, section 28.80(opens in new tab) does not impose any size restrictions on Hawaiian type throw nets when using them to take herring, Pacific staghorn sculpin, shiner surfperch, surf smelt, topsmelt, anchovies, shrimp and squid. However, it would not be legal to use throw nets south of Point Conception.
