Tried cooking crabs this way, turned out yummy, have since tried with coconut milk, garlic , ginger and lemongrass, was amazing, give it a go.

@@jeffblogs1371 glad you enjoyed! Yes, you can add a variety of other things to make a sauce to go with. We just like the simplicity and flavour of crabs.

A great point you made about steaming vs boiling. In the USA, the Maryland Blue Crab is kind of similar to our Blue manna crabs. I've seen a few vids about the Maryland Blue Crab and the yanks almost consider it a sin to boil them. Always steam they say.

Ha interesting! Think it’s about time we got onboard! Boiling dilutes the flavour for sure.

@@WAFISHING I'm pretty sure smothering them in garlic butter dilutes the flavor of the crab. Boil them in salt water and then straight into iced saltwater, but each to their own.

@ you’d be quite incorrect. Boiling dilutes the flavour into the water. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it 🤙 🦀

@@thebob3712 yet soo many people eat crab and lobster with garlic and butter. Like you said, each to their own.

Nice one Spence 👍. Was that a Swiftcraft you were on? Going crabbing in the Swan tomorrow, i shall try your cooking method 🍻. I normally boil them.

@@ryantweddle6155 yes, a swiftcraft! Keen eye! You won’t boil a crab again after trying 😉

@WAFISHING have to eat straight away though yeah? No good to put in the fridge and eat the next day as the butter would harden up. Was it small boats big adventures boat?

Clean, fridge and eat next day if you like.

Caught 15 nice blues in the swan today, tried your cooking method. Was awesome. Was abit worried about how long to cook as you just said when red and the butter has melted. I did for roughly 10-15mins and was cooked perfectly. Next time i will put a splash of white wine in the pan and add minced ginger and finely sliced chilli in with the garlic butter 😀 Love the simplicity of it.

Check joints for loss of blue colour if you’re unsure. Just don’t overcook them. You can certainly Spice up the leftover in the pan to make a sauce. We just kept it simple and generally the crabs that juicy there’s no need. :)

Haha well you were spot on about someone coming along before you on that mooring. Those occy pots were checked by me 3 days ago lol. I left that one standing on its end. I'm still trying to find the 15 pots I put in 3 years ago 😢 Lots of crabs hiding in the sand patches.
@WAFISHING27 күн бұрын
There ya go 😉 Lots of pots go missing over time. I don’t bother with leaving any unless they’re terracotta and heavy AF. Otherwise people relocate them. Thieving Pointless if you ask me.
