Thanks for the video (great as always!). Personally I have enjoyed version 1.0 with the core edition. This is where me and buddies started and got into the game and whilst we added the errata cards and changes - I haven’t been able to invest any time into the lastest edition with 2.5. I know that tabletop games regularly update - but honestly it takes time to learn and master a game and with so many possible factions and minis that can be used, until a clear and clean version is released I am not really interested in learning new rules only to find that adjustments are being rolled out to adapt these in 6 month periods. I will hold off on playing new version with friends until we get to see the full version coming. I am reluctant to spend more money on adapter cards until I can fully understand what the new version of the game plays like and all changes are established for a time.

I also agree that 2.6 should be considered a “new edition”. The gameplay is different enough, the objectives have changed, etc. One aspect of the new rules set (2.6) I have appreciated is the “faction identity” push they have been making and a ruleset that makes various factions viable. I took a break from tournaments for a while in the previous rule set after the token sharing nerf to GAR a few years ago because the points increase + token sharing nerf basically made all of my GAR builds unusable. So much of the old scenarios benefitted massive activation lists which GAR struggles to do. (I switched to rebels because they were one of the few factions I could list build how I wanted and still remain competitive). I’ve played a little of version 2.6 and it feels more balanced in the fact that you can still have a good chance to win even if you have a high upgrade, low activation list.

Appreciate the history and does make sense. Im sure AMG will be happy when they finish rolling out all the new stuff for whatever section we're in.

The problem with the GW style rolling rules updates is that it is extremely easy to get rulesets mixed up, especially in the heat of battle, and end up doing things "the old way" which leads to confusion all round, and in a tournament setting could be mistaken for actively trying to cheat.

I believe AMG has stated in interviews that after all the cards have been refreshed they will call it Legion 3.0
@Crabbok17 күн бұрын
The closest I've heard is that they had said that 2.6 probably "Should have" been a 3.0, but yeah I hope that ends up being the case.

Bro I’m the same I supported this game for years I own nearly every miniature and with all the updates and new rule books I’m very close to being done with this game. It’s too much to keep tabs on they almost expect you to dedicate your life to this one game

13:02 If Asmodee hasn't called any of it new editions yet, I doubt they will call the new changes 3rd Edition.

Legion is clearly on a new addition even if AMG / Atomic Mass Games doesn't want to call it a new addition. But whatever. We can still play so it doesn't really matter.

I just hope this game doesn't turn into 40k. Became interested in it exactly for what it had to offer that was different to it.

The trouble with defining editions/versions of a game is that you have to snapshot what is available for use at each particular edition/version.

Very comprehensive explanation! So, if one has bought nothing and is looking to get in, what would be the best way to get started? Would waiting for the 2025 "3.0" update and all of the different reprints be best (especially if there is no hurry for the person to start collecting)?
@Zweihaender17 күн бұрын
Just buy a starter and play with what in the box to learn the basics, don’t take the joy of the game away from yourself by waiting another 6-9 months.

I like the recent updates and that they are committing to updates, but I think this goes back to a point you made earlier this year. The updates being pushed through without full testing and feedback not being allowed (I use the term allowed on purpose). so you end up with lots of incremental updates post launch....or am I bang out of order??

In AMG's defense, at least when Legion came out with the revisions at least the upgrade parts were print and play, unlike X-wing that required purchase for much of it.
