That's exactly what I did to my 2007 Murakami Trouville it came in AB condition but I clean the handles with baby wipes and conditioned afterwards and one handle cracked. I purchased a $18 leather repair and fixed the Jakes handle and it's barely noticeable.

A lot of people don't know once you try to fix the bag or have it fixed other than louis vuitton they won't repair your bag, but 600 dollars is insane

Yes I did this at my own risk and I know Louis will not be able to repair this again but this bag is so old it isn't worth sending in for such a high repair price!

You just voided your ability to have that bag from any future repairs at LV. Now LV won’t ever touch that particular bag. If you would have taken it to LV, they would have repaired it for less than $150 and even upgraded the bag with the Vachetta trimmings maki g the bag new agsin. I actually had mine repaired for free , though I had mine for 5 years. It all depends how you approach LV and if you’d spoken to the LV manager , they would’ve taken care of you. Lastly no two stores are ever the same. If one store quotes you an insane price , go to another store and ask for the manager. That’s how I roll. I have had so many bags repaired for free and they were vintage pieces.
