I'm not going to lie, I did not expect the results you had. I imagined the thickest parts of the paint would not even crack. As soon as I saw the first result I immediately shared this with my daughter. That is an amazing technique. Subscribed and trying it for myself. Thank you.

That looks pretty good. I painted movie sets for many years and it was interesting to watch you because your results were good. I worked for some of the top decorators and art directors in the world and they would never have went for that black that you added. In real life you almost never come across black except when there been a fire. You can use something like raw umber which is really dark but not quite black also when you spray with the water if you would add just a drop of dish-washing soap to the water it will look more natural. If you want to try something really fun get some old fashioned shoe polish "the paste kind" and some paste wax and rub them on there experimenting with how much color you add. Keep up the good work it was fun to watch you.

Ohhh I used to use shoe polish, the kind that came in the dabbers, lol, for "primitive decor" long before they started making all these colored waxes and chalk paints! Worked great for an "antiquing" look!

I would watch any videos you put out about set painting! Very much missing professional artists videos on these types of techniques on yt, it's very "crafty" and alot of the same "shabby chic" aesthetics. I'm a painter/sculptor/potter with a formal education in all these fields. But there's loads of stuff I never got into at uni that I'm curious about, especially weathering surfaces and historic interior effects and techniques that aren't "cute" or kitch. Brush tech, various patinas, old school marbling/marmorino effects, bronzing, verdegris etc for people with some experience painting or sculpting, thats not sponsored by some expensive diy brand. I havent found any youtuber with your type of experience, I'd be in instant follower!

I want to try this on the top of a dining room table that has some damage, to camouflage that damage. What type of polyacrylic do you recommend I use since it will be on the top of a dining room table? Thanks!

Which sealing medium is best? Spray on or brush on? I don't want to wreck my crackle.

Great idea. I think, I saw someone using a wood block or scraper, to do something similar, recently, but I can't remember who it was. I was wondering if people still love the old chippy look. I think it is so beautiful, especially when you add a color or two behind the white, like you did with that beautiful blue.

If I'm painting a chest of drawers, can't you use a brush to get into all the nooks and crannies (a block of wood won't allow that)? Thanks
