The theory is awesome but there's an explanation of why Max had grey eyes, and I think Cassie was the one who said that grey is a variation of blue, so he has to be Maryse and Robert's child. All the Izzy being Valentine's daughter thing is more possible than Max being a lovechild. I was pretty impressed like OMG Izzy could be not a Lightwood!, because idk, it seems soooo weird to think that she's not, and even though CoFH doesn't mention nothing about it the theory could still be possible, but then WAIT there's ALSO the possibility that Iz is a genetic miracle and actually is Robert and Mayrise's daughter. Too much for my brain.

Hermione Luna Morgenstern Herondale Prior i believe she could have the smallest amount of faerie blood in her because she is known to be extremely beautiful and aren't faeries known for their beauty? After all shadow hunter blood is dominant and since faeries are part demon and angel she could have more angel in her therefore be able to keep up or since valentine experimented on himself some of his stuff could have been genetically mutated but not shown since he was to old so when Maryse and Valentine had an affair it could have transferred to Izzy and made her more advanced you could say Idek if that made any sense????

That would be another weird thing cause then Jace would be Izzy's best friend and he's going out with Clary who is Izzy's step sister. Actually I just saw your comment and checked in my collectors edition of Clockwork Princess where there are family trees for the Carstairs the Herondales and the Lightwoods. Isabelle is listed as Maryse and Roberts baby BUT it doesn't rule out Christines theory becaus Cassie never does anything by accident

Ok, so here comes my opinion... The thing is: Maryse loves Izzy. BUT, when Maryse thought that Jace was Valentine's son, she flipped. I mean, she "hated" him. But she treats Izzy with so much love. If you think about it logically, she should be hating Izzy if she was the offsspring of her and valentine, CAUSE Valentine betrayed her and she did cheat on her husband with him (of course only if this theory proves true) But then on the other hand..if Izzy IS Valentines child...couldn't it be possible, that Valentine experimented on her with Fairy-blood? I mean, from the beginning Izzy had an affinity of downworlders, meaning, she feels kinda like SHE FITS IN WITH THEM, right? WHY IS IZZY SO HUNG UP ON DOWNWORLDERS? Because she has their blood? And then, her first downworlder boyfriend we know of is Meliorn, a FAIRY. Also, I think that in the book, the Fairy's eyes are described as endless, black tunnels or sockets or anything. So that WOULD make sense. AND when Clary first meets Izzy, she describes her as beautiful and majestic and "like from another world". Like she's...not from this universe. That's what Jace says at some point too, in this first-kiss-scene "izzy is beautiful. But in a whole other way than you are" or something like this. And when Clary first goes to the Seelie Queen, she describes all the fairy's there as beautiful and wild and free and I think she describes Izzy similarly. This is just a theory, but what if it's like that? Then again, I really just want a scene where Izzy realizes this whole shit and the ever so strong Izzy breaks down again, having PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Simon to pick her up. And she's like "I love my brother's so much. But they're not even my brothers". And from the start, Izzy is like a sister to Clary, even though they're so different...but if that Valentine-theory proves true...they're halfsisters aren't they? That would be another weird thing cause...Jace is Izzy's best friend and he's going out with Clary. And then Simon is Clary's best friend and he'll probably go out with Izzy. And Izzy and Clary are somewhat sisters. WHAT I'M SO MINDBLOWN. Dammmnnn.

Search " Cassandra Clare Isabelle's eye colour" and read Cassie's tumblr post. Cassie says that while she does love that readers like Christine are coming up with these theories, she is sad to say that this one isn't true because she never really thought about that idea while she was writing it. She says that the only reason she gave Izzy brown eyes is because she knows a blue eyed family with a blue eyed son and a brown eyed daughter, and that Max's gray eyes are a variant of blue. Love the theory anyway and I wish it was true!

I think, if this is true, Izzy was probably experimented on by faery blood. That would explain just how absolutely gorgeous she is made out to be as well as explain a wee bit into the relationship she had with Meliorn (I think that's his name, can't remember)! He might have been able to sense some type of faery blood in her and that's why he was interested for a while. Just my thoughts, hehe! Great discussion! xD

I have a theory that might be pretty stupid but I dint know anyway back when Valentine and Jocelyn were together and Valentine had experimented on Sebastian Jocelyn used to bring Sebastian to play dates with Alec to the Lightwood house in Idris along with Céline Herondale when she was pregnant with Jace and she tells Jocelyn about the potions Valentine was giving her [Céline] if Jace was being experimented on by Valentine and so was Sebastian and Alex was born around the same time as Sebastian what if Alex was also experimented on by Valentine with WARLOCK BLOOD which wwould give him like maybe IMMORTALITY like Magnus.....I don't it could be really stupid but that's my theory.

I personally think Valentine and Maryse (May-ris BTW. That's how you say it) had Isabelle. It makes sense anyway, considering both Valentine and Isabelle have very dark brown eyes (it's said for Izzy in CoLS that she has brown). Also, a quote from CoA. "My Maryse." "I'm not your Maryse anymore." And Maryse was around Valentine before he burned down the home and ran away.

It makes perfect sense that Isabelle is the product of some of Valentine's angel/demon blood experiments. He seemed to like giving "Valentine's special tonics" to pregnant women. Who's to say that Valentine didn't give some to Maryse to help her with her morning sickness? I think that Isabelle is Maryse and Robert's child, but that she got some demon blood tonics, just not that much. It would explain why, like Jace, she is considered one of the most skilled shadowhunters for her age. Sebastian/Jonathan really liked her and felt like they were alike in a lot of ways. I think that last part is the most significant, really. Isabelle has a little extra something something in her blood. Valentine gave too much to his own son, so he lightened up on the dosage for Isabelle.

If you google "cassandra clare isabelle's eyes" she has a tumblr post about it. It's posted after this video. She mentions you, and she also says that there is a mention of Max's eye color. There's no larger reason for Izzy's eye color, sadly, and she debunks all of this, but credits you for forming this awesome theory.

SPOILER ALERT FOR CLOCKWORK PRINCESS AND CITY OF LOST SOULS! I was just re-reading Clockwork Princess, and in the epilogue Tessa says: " This Jem had raven-black hair, curling slightly in the humid air, and dark brown eyes with glints of gold in the irises." I also recently re-read City of Lost Souls and Simon says: "up close you could see that her eyes weren't black but a very dark brown, flecked with gold." and Isabelle also has raven-black hair.

He could mean out of all the children Valentine experimented on. Because Sebastian knew about Jace, so he might have known about Izzy too. Because she has Downworlder blood instead of Angel which makes her more like Sebastian than Jace, therefore Sebastian feels closer to her.

It could also be why izzy likes having relationships with downworlders if she is perhaps even part downworlder then surely see might be more attracted to them than usual shadowhunters? Sizzy???!!

OH MY GOD BUT WAIT. We all know Sebastian kills Max in City of Glass and Isabelle saw it happen, and we all know the last words he said before he did it. The conversation goes like this-and I am quoting this straight from the book- "I'm sorry it's you," he said. "See, out of all of them, I liked you the best." "Sebastian-" "Out of all of them," he said again, in the same low voice, "I thought you were the most like me." With that said, does/did he know if Isabelle was from his blood? Or had he never known at all, and he liked her the best because of his weird obsession with people of his heritage? Maybe he didn't know, because if he did, he might have that same "You are my blood, therefore you are mine" attitude with her also, or maybe he knows that she is not fully of Morgenstern blood and doesn't want her? Sooo many possibilities...

Isabelle's eyes are actually 'very dark brown flecked with gold'. Cassandra Clare described them in City of Lost Souls, Chapter 12 - The stuff of Heaven, when Simon was about to feed off of Isabelle for the first time when they were both alone in her room. So no her eyes are not black, but I do agree that Something is up! We've been concentrating a lot on Isabelle in the last few books! There are NO Coincidences when it comes to Cassandra Clare! I'm so excited for COHF!

Hmmm... This is incredibly interesting! Also, vampires aren't technically immortal, right? They grow older at an incredibly slow rate so they would eventually die, if I'm remembering correctly? (Could be completely wrong, haven't reread the series in a while). So if Izzy has vampire blood in her system, did it work differently for her as a child, and allowed her to grow to physical maturity at a human rate? In that case, would her "immortality" work differently when compared to traditional vampires? Damn it, now I can't stop coming up with more crackpot theories!

Here is what I want to say: I trust Harry Potter wikia I trusted it and I will until the very end, but I don't know about TMI wikia, if it's as good as HP but on the Max Lightwood wikia page it says he has BLACK eyes, BUUUUUUT there is a picture in Shadowhunter's Codex (p. 264) drawn by Clary (Cassandra Jean who does all Shadowhunty Art for Cassandra Clare) and he visibly has light eyes. When I first read the passage about how Izzy wished she had blue eyes like her parents I didn't think anything of it because I am one of those rare children that has brown eyes and two blue eyed parents.
