Thanks for the amazing video, but I have a doubt. For point no 6, is it right to represent it as ~L u ~U? That would mean EITHER L isn't there OR U isn't there. Which means that if we know L is not there, U should be there, right? But this doesn't go with what you said at exactly 21:44. Please clarify

Hi shreya, The 6th condition states that L and U cannot be members of the same team. This can occur in 3 ways. Both L and U are not present in the team...(1) Only U is present in the team...(2) or Only L is present in the team...(3) When we take L=false i.e L is not present in the team, U can either be present(Case (1)) or absent(case (2)). Hence we consider both those cases. Hope this clarifies:)

@@CrackuInexam yes I got it. What I'm trying to say here is that the de morgen's representation (~L u ~U) doesn't suggest that. By writing pt 6 in this form, we're essentially saying that either L is not there or U is not there.

Could you provide a solution for this: Sixteen teams have been invited to participate in the ABC Gold Cup cricket tournament, which is conducted in two stages. In the first stage,the teams are divided into two groups. Each group consist of eight teams ,with each team playing every other team in its group exactly once. At the end of the first stage,the top four team from each group advance to get to second stage while the rest are eliminated. The second stage comprises of several rounds. A round involve one match for each team. The winner of the match in a round advances to the next round, while the loser is eliminated. The team that remain undefeated in the second stage is declared the winner and claims the Gold Cup . Rules for tournament are such that each match results in a winner or a loser with no possibility of a tie . In the first stage a team earns one point for each win and no point for a loss. At the and of the first stage, teams in each group are ranked on the basis of total points to determine the qualifiers advancing to next stage. Ties are resolved by a series of complex tie breaking rules so that exactly four teams from each group advance to the next stage. Question: what is the total number of matches are played in the tournament?
