We absolutely loved Tassie! We will definitely be back, but we’ve got a lot of exploring to do in the northern hemisphere in the next few years.

10 years ago you could visit Cradle and only meet a handful of others on the main tracks at any time of the year. It's now much less crowded in the winter months only. This summer there seems to have been a major increase in tourist numbers throughout all of Tas, this has both good and bad aspects :)

I’m sure it is a blessing and a curse. Let’s just say we wouldn’t go in January next time, although we were so lucky with the weather.

While we were sad not to see one in the wild, I don't think we would have ever seen the amazing interactions we were able to see in the sanctuary. And that's what made it awesome for us.

Another great installment. I was last there in 2018 but do not recall the Devil Sanctuary. These is one near Port Arthur which I visited but it was not cheap. The Caravan park at Huonville has them there as well and they have free feeding every afternoon. Have fun in Victoria.

We lived in tassie for 18yrs,kayaked dove lake both day and night(mega dark),carried our 14ft kayaks up to crater Lake,Lake Lila,and up to lake wilks which is that small lake directly under cradle mountain-gotta tell you that hike carrying our 14ft 26kg kayaks was brutal but well worth it in the end.Glad you enjoyed Tas,I do miss kayaking around the many lakes and rivers and being completely alone at times.

I'm so glad you got to Devils @ Cradle for feeding time. Such an experience! When we were there (Dec 2020) it was freezing and sleeting! We had about 4 layers on so really enjoyed the talk and video inside in the warm 😉 It was an extra treat to see a couple of wombats waddling through the car park! Would have liked to have done more walks around Cradle Mountain but with 2 teens not enjoying the cold or exercise we literally did all the shortest walks! Hubby did go off by himself to the boat shed and wombat pool though, but the weather was grim. Really looking forward to a much longer trip sometime in the future,as we did a bit of a loop in 16 days and barely scratched the surface! Have taken note of some of your fabulous stops to add to the next itinerary 😊👌Cheers, Carla

That brought back lots of memories. Devils are vicious buggars. One minute they look cute and the next they're ripping off your foot! We spent 56 nights in Tassie, avoided places we had been to previously and still didn't do it all.

Sadly all good things must come to an end. Your van life journey has been such a joy to follow Nigel and Sue. Your last episode was enlightening and entertaining as always. It also made me a little sad as I do miss Tassie. It is an incredible place and I feel privileged to have lived there. Enjoy your time at your free camp, and we look forward to your new adventures. We will miss the Nigel dives though. Stay safe and happy. Coen and Jay

When we travelled in early December last year (less crowded) we parked up in the exact same spot as you at Lake Gairdner - it’s a terrific free camp! We didn’t see any platypus though. What irritated me was we arrived early, about 1pm, to get a spot lakeside … then about 9pm just as it was getting dark some people turned up and tried to push in - so un-Australian! (they appeared to be tourists) 🤷♀️ Some people need to learn camping etiquette. You were blessed with great weather for Cradle Mountain. It’s on my list but, like you, we don’t enjoy having to jostle with crowds. So we will probably go off season.

Enjoying ya Tassie vids guys! I live an hours drive from Cradle Mt and as a local I can honestly say I haven't been there in years, more than 5 I reckon. The place is that busy all the time now, it used to be great when you could drive your car to the Dove Lake car park and do things in your own time there. 👌

Yes, we were really confused as to the purpose of that monstrosity at the end of the road. Our mate Pete had told us about it, but it just made no sense to us at all! Glad you've enjoyed the series, thanks for watching.

I think I have seen all your Tasssie adventures now? but Wow! I have always wanted to go there but had no idea how incredible it really is...I just got my bus back yesterday from mechanics, so few renos on the build and maybe head there there one day soon - what months is best time to go weather wise and also crowd-wise? Thanks for a great virtual trip X
@nigelandsueadventures2 ай бұрын
Hey Vic, weather wise December to March - crowds wise avoid January!! I think February and March would be good. First week of Feb might still be crowded as kids go back to school the second week. Having said that we only had issues finding somewhere to camp once (Bruny Island on Australia Day weekend). You will LOVE it!!

I sensed your slight disappointment for Cradle Mtn with its onslaught of tourists, unfortunately the world is now on the move again and nearly every where is overcrowded and l hate it lol! Can folks just go back overseas for holidays hahaha 😊 Although Cradle Mtn had a lot of tourists, it is still a most spectacular place to visit. The ancient rock formations are extraordinary and l would love to see it one day when it's misting with rain, fog and low cloud, that would be very awesome and lm.sure less folks around too! 😂
