Thank you, Gayle for still posting even though it's been a struggle this day. Yes! I totally can identify with having one of those days where everything seems like a struggle. You could have just not posted this and keep the illusion that everything is always alright, but you shared your humanness with us and that's was a gift. Thank you. xxx

I have you on autoplay so the videos are scrolling through and I have not jumped in to "Like" them but I really do. Thank you so much for the ephemera series particularly. Lots of inspiration there.

Question: my daughter loves the wizard of oz, how do I start a journal with that theme? New to journal making so appreciate your help. Love the way you walk us through the projects.
@barbaralaforge74925 жыл бұрын
Linda Hutchings Linda. I mostly make theme journals. Graphic45 has a great kit, and I find lots of pics on the internet. I either take a screen shot or print it out. I can send my screen shots to amazon and get them printed on matte. I find it is cheaper than using my printer. Just look, so many free images. Gotta get creative!
@gayleagostinelli_ct5 жыл бұрын
Hi LInda! You can start with finding some Wizard of Oz books. You could either do an altered book (I have tutorial videos) or use any pictures to make ephemera and use pages from the book as pages in your journal. Also, if you have a printer, you could search on Etsy for “Wizard of Oz” and purchase a digital kit, so you’d have themed papers to work with. Their may me Wizard of Oz themed ephemera on Etsy too. Hope those ideas will get you started! Have fun with it! ❤️

Hi Gayle, so interesting in collaging! It's a great idea with gluing the ephemera on the book but wondering if the books can be used further for anything? Xx
@gayleagostinelli_ct4 жыл бұрын
I’m not quite sure I understand your question, Alison, but Ill try and answer. I glue on the book so I don’t get my mat messy. Then I use those gluey pages as the bases for journal cards, tags and pockets that I collage and decorate. All those then go in future journals. Does that make sense? If I need to clarify, let me know! ❤️
@alisonwiles31324 жыл бұрын
@@gayleagostinelli_ct ok I understand with gluing on the book to protect your mat, it's a neat way of no mess😉 and the pages do get used up too for further collages etc. Thanks for explaining as I thought the book pages you use to glue on would go to waste. ☺💕

Gayle, I noticed that you used book pages to create your tags - but then covered up all the text. I realized that I've been trying to embellish my book page tags in a way that keeps some of the text uncovered - as if that were the purpose of creating the tag from a book page - and getting a bit frustrated about it as well. So - do you use book pages then as the substrate or your "canvas" - without regard to the text on the page - as you would if it were kraft type paper or a manila shipping tag? I'm way too uptight about "rules" - thanks for helping me to realize that. After watching your video, I went back to my studio and proceeded to completely cover two of my book page tags with piano paper! Progress! 😀😉
@gayleagostinelli_ct5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you’re exactly right. It’s like the book page is the “canvas” or substrate. These are “gluey” pages that I’ve used to glue on and instead of throwing them away, I’m reusing them to create the base for journal cards or tags or whatever! ❤️
