When i first started watching JJ videos they made NO sense!!!! WHY????? I could not figure out what good they were and why to waste time and money. It seemed "wrong" to destroy books to make pockets and other things. What is the PURPOSE??? Then one night someone said..the purpose of these JJ. Is to enjoy the process of making them..to enjoy taking them out and looking at them..enjoying the fact you created it. And for some lucky talented ones to sell them!! After watching your videos for several months i think i am beginning to understand. Thank you!!!! I am collecting things to eventually try to do a flower..butterfly..bird..garden type journal. Still unsure but am getting braver...I go to yard sales etc and look at childrens books and just see a book not art so i dont buy them. Guess i need to just DO IT!!! .THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR GREAT BOOKS....while watching you i made a pocket from a toilet paper roll covered in junk mail in a foriegn language. My first. Now just to decorate it tomorrow. BABY STEPS...LOL!!!!

Hi Gayle, I have been watching your videos for a while and have enjoyed them. While watching this video and wondered if there was a way you could extend the cover width so you don't have to cut or fold the pages? Just curious... thanks for sharing your ideas.

check out Elizabeth brewers technique where she folds on the inside of the golden book pages where you dont have to cut and it still stays connected for the signature.

How do you get those wonderful coffee splatters on your paper? I have watched your coffee dying video but did I miss the technique? Thanks Gayle, have a wonderful 3-day vacation! (I watch at night with my husband snoring next to me!-lol)

Robin, the marks on the coffee dyed paper are from the paper sitting on the wrinkled and uneven parchment paper. The coffee puddles and makes those marks. 😄❤️

Do you have a video where you show how you get the measurement for what size the papers should be for the signatures in a book?
@gayleagostinelli_ct6 жыл бұрын
Michelle, I don't have a video, but just measure to make sure it fits nicely in the book. I think the Little Golden Books are something like 7 1/2 by 10 inches. When I do journals that have a 9 x 12 envelope as the cover, an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper fits perfectly. Just measure the height then double the width of the front cover and it will turn out great! Hope that helps! ❤️

Forgot to tell you - while I watch your video I’m working on my LGBs (which I started back when you did your last batch!!) You mentioned that some people don’t like folding the LGB pages to fit in the journal. I thought you might like to see a third different way to prepare the covers so the pages will fit without folding AND without cutting. My method is on my Facebook page. Search for Sally Connell Turlington(Mimi) on Facebook. Sorry, I don’t know how to link the post here.

Hi Gayle, I am a bit confused on the number of pages. How many total pages with pockets are inserted into each signature? It looks like you put three? Also, do you include three regular scrapbook pages (cut 7 3/4 x 11 1/2)? Finally, how many coffee dyed and children's book pages are inserted -- is that 3 of each? So total full pages including signature set is 15 full pages? Sorry for the long questions!! :)
@gayleagostinelli_ct6 жыл бұрын
Christina Ballinger about 15 pages per signature. I did two signatures in these books. The types of pages, Scrapbook paper, coffee dyed, music, dictionary pages, whatever is really up to the journal artist. As far as measurements, measure slightly less than your covers and your good to go...I think you had the measurements right! The main thing is to have fun and put the books together in a way that pleases you! Thanks for watching! ❤️
@sandy_521lakestreet6 жыл бұрын
SO glad you did this video, I have never seen anyone put the signatures together before, it seems that step has always been done before the video starts..Also, is there a reason that you didn't use some patterned papers that are juvenile themed? Also...lol...what is the dimension of the pages that have no pocket? .Thanks! Gayle! Hope I am on the list you mentioned...I have the LGB coming my way...oh, by the way how much are they? lol Sandy
@gayleagostinelli_ct6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandy! I don't have any juvenile print scrapbook paper, so that's why I chose the ones I did. The dimensions are 7 3/4 x 11 1/2. And yes! You are on the list. We can chat cost when we visit back and forth on Etsy when we are getting close to time to make the next batch. Thanks for watching!! ❤️
