Try some Gesso on the cover and then some sepia ink or tea to "vintage" it.

I absolutely love this cover exactly as it is and I also respect that you might not, so I think painting some gesso over the black cover paper and then adding some coffee dyeing over it might be more your cup of tea. ❤️

I like the black cover. Could vintage up the edges with distress ink to blend more as you like but I think the black offers a nice contrast as a cover.

I really enjoyed watching you consider different ways to use your papers and I loved seeing your paint sample journal again too! The cover is very nice but I do think a softer, more neutral look might be the way to go 💕

I like the cover. As you add more black and white images to your journal, the cover is more fitting; however, if you are going to coffee or tea dye the black and white images, then I like the ideas suggested to add gesso and tea or coffee dye the current cover. Love the size and shape of this journal~

Yes, I agree that the cover is too dark. As suggested by another person, gesso the cover and then tea dye it. Love your using the paper pads in your JJ. I have pads like yours and I am going to start using them in my JJ.❤️

I like the front page as is maybe soften it with pink lace or trim. Im keen to see how you are to decorate your little book . I made one too but need now decoration

I like the cover as it makes me think of monochromatic Laura Ashley prints. But you could alter it with some white acrylic brushed over areas to knock it back. Perhaps some tea/coffee staining...? Thanks for an enjoyable vlog!

I LoVe the cover! Everytime you pick it up on socials I think ‘ooo that’s a lovely cover’ 😂 but that’s because I love black and white as a contrast. You need to love your cover though so do what feels right. I’d maybe add occasional splashes of b&w inside, or just leave it as the beautiful contrast it is! It reminds me of a traditional composition notebook; does it need to match the insides? In other news - yes, yes, yes to a Nov challenge!! Perfect ❤

I like the cover but agree that it doesn't match. I love the other black and white page with the peonies. But to keep it different maybe gesso and dye the cover you have already??!!! Lots of great ideas for using up scrapbook pad pages, thank you x

Absolutely love this journal, such a different format. With the cover, maybe add some tea/ coffee dyed tissue paper in some areas to kick back the dark background. 🤔 much love.🇭🇲📚✂️💖

Another informative watch thank you. Have you thought of gathering the bits that in all honesty are not your style make some packs up and put into little bags or envelopes and donate to a charity shop for someone who would be very happy to use. I have myself bought many of said crafting packs of fussy cut sets or discounted punches and even stamps. Then the charity shop will benefit you also get rid of unwanted crafting items!!! Win win!

I think it would match the inside better though I love the cover now but as far as matching the inside it would look better with the other paper and then with pink flowers would be lovely

Just wondering if you dry brush tainted gesso onto the black & white parts of your cover it would tone it down a bit?

I am wondering if it is the black that is bothering you on the cover. What is you were to use an unbleached titanium paint and lightly cover which would mute the black but still allow the pattern to show through.

Great video. On the cover...have you thought of light coat of gesso? But I do think it needs changing.

I love the cover darker, but it isn’t so much your style. What is you tea dyed that paper you set aside and then used it on the top third of the front and wrapped it around the back? Then you would still have some of the black in the lower right and you’d keep the beautiful collage, b7t the black wouldn’t be as prominent anymore. Wrapping to the back would also start to tone down the black o. The back AND connect the front/back together.

I rather like the front cover you have. It's beautiful as is. Maybe add more pinks or mint green? What you suggested sounds pretty too tho. But it is not like you will never do another one. LOL. I'm obviously a month late but 😂have to say I do love your darker cover and you do have the pink flower there so it does match the inside pages. However it IS your journal Meg. If you really feel it needs changing you could maybe add a light pink watercolour to the gesso?

The cover should be changed - you’ll never be satisfied and the paper coffee dyed with a brass piece with pink will be perfect. Cut the black off the tabs and coffee dye the remaining tab to match the cover.
