That table is dope my dude. I been wanting to build my wife and I a modern storage table just like this for a couple of years now. I actually love the copper pipe idea for the legs. I'd like to maybe add some casters on mine though, cause we always seem to be moving our current table around and bringing it closer for fight nights or to clean. I also would love to incorporate some preserved moss somehow. Super jealous of the 3D printer lol. Gonna have to look into that once my carpenter skills are up to a higher level first. I'll deff be checking out the plans and subscribing. Thanks for the vid!

I use Total Boat epoxy as well and it's really great. I've found that if it dries overnight, I warm it up for a few seconds with a heat gun and run a chisel on the build up and it comes right up. Saves my plane blades and it comes off VERY clean and there's no dust. I don't know if this is a bad way to do things but just thought you'd give it a go if you want to save some time.

I had never considered, kickback like that on a mister saw, thanks for including that.
@joonasfi5 жыл бұрын
Same here. Always knew about table saw kickback but not mitre saw. Now that we think of it, any spinning blade against wood is probably bound to have danger
@craftedworkshop5 жыл бұрын
Yup, any saw can have kickback!
@joonasfi5 жыл бұрын
But my simple mind is struggling to understand the physics here. The saw spins in a direction where it would like to throw the wood into the direction of the tool's user. The wood is now clamped so it doesn't move, so the saw moves. Why doesn't the saw move into the opposite direction (the wall) than the wood would move? It moved towards the user which was unexpected in terms of physics to me.

Oh wow, that Enduro-Var darkened the walnut nicely. I tried using High Performance Poly on some walnut I had, and it was just too light still so I ended up using dark walnut danish oil. I may have to give Enduro-Var a look. I don't have a respirator or and outdoor work area to use oil-based polys unfortunately.

Not a fan of the copper base, but the rest looks great!
@errcoche4 жыл бұрын
@Robert B. I think there is a problem with the proportions of the copper more than basic appearance. The pipework is just too thin. I think larger diameter iron pipe might have been better. There is also a dissonance between the industrial nature of using plumbing pipe and then such fine wood and clean lines for the table itself. Pipe and pallet wood would be more the thing ( IMO of course ).

Will the pullout upper part of table be able to hold a sewing machine. Is there a way to like lock in the part that swings up on the top to make a higher table? Thanks
@michaeltflaman68354 жыл бұрын
Exactly how the 45 deg bevel along the front edge of the tabletop helps to raise it is very perplexing: this bevel makes it more difficult to raise the table top. Why did you not cut a bottom groove along the underside of the table top i.e. just inboard of the front edge?

Never worked with copper before he says.... damn kids! When i'm soldering copper pipe, I keep an acid brush next to me with some flux. Once the solder starts to flow, you take away the heat and let the solder draw in, then before it has a chance to cool, brush it with the flux again. You'd be surprised how clean the joint is afterwards, would pretty much eliminate that file work you did afterwards.

So, will biscuits or dowels work ok? 😂 Loved the tip about using the block plane on the epoxy, looked fast and easy! Does the lift mechanism require a certain weight to work? Does it come in any different sizes?
@craftedworkshop5 жыл бұрын
They should 😂 I think the top has to be at least 20 lbs to work with the mechanism, so pretty easy with basically any kind of wood. I think this one is one size, but you can adjust the size of the top to be bigger.
@bobbysimon96995 жыл бұрын
I love your projects and narration on all your vids. The table looks great, but I'm really not liking the copper legs/base. Maybe gas pipe would have been a better contrast or simple steel frame to go with the beautiful walnut.
