Crafting $1,000 custom headlights from junk

I crafted clean, $1,000 headlights from pure Junkyard housings! Building my 1st CUSTOM Headlights in 10 Minutes. It took over 2 weeks and there were tons of problems!

Our Mazda RX-8 needs a lot of clean up, with more on the way (did you catch the hint in the video?), But first, custom headlight build! We chose to put these in the oven to strip the lens apart, then re-paint everything, then we used a custom LED switchback DRL (Daytime Running Light) headlight strip, plus a full LED bulb conversion!
This was my very first time building any sort of modern headlights, and I'm so glad that our 2004 Mazda RX8 was the car to do it on! They were super foggy and ugly before we rebuilt the headlights. I do think these DIY Headlights came out looking GREAT! What do you think? Supra Much??

Easy off is the go to for stripping chrome for future reference, also the HID's will give you better performance and if you don't want them I would buy them, and the ballasts will be just fine in the oven they live pretty close to the rad and rest of the heat of the engine bay plus get pretty hot themselves as well as the bulbs

Good to know! Also, easy-off doesn’t work in california anymore. I have a bottle from 2016 that will strip paint, and a brand new bottle that needs scrubbing to get through stains.

Great video and awesome work with these. Quick tip you can turn the adjustment bolts to move the bowl inside enough to get the igniters out for the hids without opening the lights up. Also the ballasts should be able to be disconnected from underneath them

@@cyberunndesign 2003. I've cleaned up the outside with the 3M headlight buffer wheel kit thing and it cleared them up a lot but the rest of the fogginess is on the inside, if i ever take em apart I'd like to do the LED strips to. You got em looking awesome man!
