From a fellow jeweller, who likes to specialise in heavy gauge statement pieces, that was superbly well done. I normally use Bronze or Silver on the basis that Copper is more likely to deform when worn but I am convinced that your piece will stand up beautifully. I’m curious-I normally use silver solder but I would love to know what solder it is that you used as it seems an excellent colour match for Copper. Once again, outstanding work and result. P.S. I use my Foredom for polishing and have a wooden holder that I treasure. It is two pieces of scrap wood, a base slightly thicker than the upright, which I clamp in place in a vice. The upright has a hole drilled through it, slightly bigger than my handpiece, with a narrow slit from the top of the hole to the top edge of the upright piece of wood. Just above the hole for the handpiece is a hole drilled through for a bolt which can be tightened to clamp the handpiece in place. It’s a simple design and something which you might find useful? I hope I’ve described it sufficiently for you to visualise! 🐺
@my-projects

Thank you very much, Peter - a very nice feedback, which I really appreciate. Yes, strong copper jewelery keeps its shape - you are absolutely right about that. Your description of your wooden holder is very nice - I can easily imagine it - I also think it would work for me. Thank you very much for the tip! I have actually bought some copper solder tin, (Rothenberger) which holds the color quite well - however, I have to be careful with soldering a little at a time - otherwise there may be a tendency for it to become too bright.

Love watching your art. Are the loops supposed to be symmetrical, or is one side of the loop intentionally bigger than the other? Thank you!
@my-projects

Thank you very much for your great feedback. ☺ It is easier to get the thinner end of a loop through the other loops. And if the other end of the loop is more open, it's easier to get your awl through the first part of the loop. But it is intended that the 2 ends in the loops should be the same size when the loop is finished braiding. I hope I have understood you correctly and that my answer is understandable. 👍

Hey this is an amazing video and I'm wanting to get into this as a hobby. Any chance you can put a list of all the tools you used with links of where to get them? Also wondering what gauge the wires are, what grit sand paper, and what type of polishing compound you use. @my-projects
@my-projects 3 ай бұрын
Thanks al lot for your nice feedback :) You can easily start with a small gas burner, round pliers, pliers, a small hammer, some hand files and a small vise - and then you're good to go. You don't need to buy expensive jewelry tools - I just use the usual hand tools that are in my workshop. The twisted wire is 2x16G and the thick wire is 10G. I use sandpaper in various sizes starting with 320 and ending with 2000. To finish I use regular polishing paste (the blue one for maximum shine) I don't know what country you are in, but all discount hardware stores have everything you need (also on their websites)

Lavoro meraviglioso, potrei sapere cosa usi alla fine per lucidare con quella bomboletta spray? Come si chiama quel prodotto lucidante? Grazie.
@my-projects
@my-projects 3 ай бұрын
Grazie mille per il tuo feedback. Utilizzo la normale cera lucidante per lucidarlo in modo che brilli, ma infine utilizzo la vernice zapon ipoallergenica per sigillare il rame in modo che non si ossidi così rapidamente.

What kind of solder you use???
@my-projects
@my-projects 3 ай бұрын
I use Rothenberger copper solder and if I am careful with the soldering I can get a copper colored joint. If you put too much solder on, the copper-colored part will float out, and then you will have to grind away the silver-colored part.
