Wow, this was a pretty intense process. I bought a made-to-measure dress form pattern from Bootstrap fashion. It’s not nearly as perfect as your end result, but was good enough for a beginner sewer.

It was indeed. :D I thought about bying a Bootstrap fashion dress form too. I think their concept is quiet smart, but I just wanted to have it as close as possible to my actual body.

You have suffered for your art! So sorry you fainted, glad that you only had to deal with bruises. The plaster lining is a Brilliant idea; well done. Of course, there has to be an easier way than sanding a polymer plastic. _Technical Safety Tip_ - Plaster particulates are capable of causing problems for your lungs. You need to wear a mask, especially while you're mixing. Gloves aren't necessary, but they do keep your hands from drying out. When I've done plaster casts with plaster bandages I've used undiluted dish soap as a 'release' coating. In addition, run a ribbon or length of fabric along the centre front and centre back - if you are very lucky you can use the ribbon as a handle to help lift the mold off the foam. Having the foam be a little less dense at the waist could be a plus when working on a corset? There may be a certain amount of squish that's equivalent to yours. I was indeed lucky. :D And by now I already found some smarter ways on how to remove the cast instead of sanding it away. I probably should have done the research beforehand and not during the project, but now I know it for whatever project to come. Yes, I wore a mask most of the time. Just when I was outside and the find facing away from me, then not rigorously. I also thought about it being an advantage for working on a corset. I will definitely test that! And I'm really grateful my parents helped me and let me create that big of a mess at their home. :D Have a great Day!

@@ankanyofficial The thumbnail says it all - it's a wonderful project. To have the support of your family while working on it makes it all the better. And 'Meh" to finding out other ways to do something after the step you are working on is finished. It happens - part of the learning curve, right. And now you have an almost done dress form. Yay. It's going to make such a difference. I've been padding out a half-size form I found second hand. I'm hoping it will help me not go through quite so many mock-ups. Have a fabulous day!

It definitely is! :D The learning curve is slightly off with this project, but yes, it happens, and I don't regret making the dress form like I did. Padding a dress form would have been my second choice, and I might do that someday too. I hope yours does the job. I still haven't started on working with mine, but I hope it will reduce the mock-up, too. Have a sunny Sunday (if that corresponds with your time zone...)
