I have to say, this and the Ortodoux videos showed me how to stitch the welt through the outsole by using the boot edge as a guide and starting the holes before putting on the outsole. I think I'm ready to take on the task. Thanks for your comments!

As a fellow shoe maker ( Cordwainer ) I love your videos. You do fantastic work. That knife you use, the one with the 8 inch wide blade that you cut your sole leather and skive with. Where can I get one of those please. Thanks.

Bro!.... you need to get yourself a sitting jack atleast! Work smarter not harder! Looks good tho.

the sitting ones are good. the tall ones are mostly a thing for bigger shoemaking manufacturies and repair work. Traditional handmade shoemaking happens on the lap while sitting on a low stool! this way you have a lot of control and your legs almost work like a third hand.

@klausbecker4745 I have used all 3 ways. The sitting boot jack, at the proper hight for the Indavidual, I feel like you get more done with less struggle. I think the traditional only knees is because that's all they had.

@@Livevil696 you have a point. for boots the sitting ones are great. especially for high tops! But it also depends on how you learned. if you allways had a jack, working on your lap is weird. the other way around it goes better - thats why for me it works just as fine on most steps. plus a boot jack is often in the way, which can interrupt the flow, makes noise, you need the fitting lasts, etc... but for lasting or inseaming it's pro's definetly can't be denied :)
