Definitely inspired me to work on something. For the rock tumbling, I have always used Pringle cans but we have more than enough old Tupperware that I might try that out, I bet the wider space works better for texturing.

I never actually tried anything smaller to know for sure if it works better or not, one thing I would say is every time I tumble rocks in it I’m a little concerned that I might end up breaking the plastic 🤷🏻♂️ I would love to hear about your experience trying different sizes of containers! You can also use aluminum foil to great effect!

Nice build! If I would copy it, a dark wash (black or brown) after the dry brushing stages would be a game changer. Giving you more shadows and depth. After that I would probably pick out highlights again with one last dry brush. That would be only two additional steps with very little knowlegde or skill required, but for big effect. Another tip: Add some bits or other leftover small stuff to your terrain pieces. A wall torch next to the entrance, a sword leaning against a wall, maybe a skull or a shield in the corner. This will tie your buildings and your miniatures together, and even open up possibilities for some story telling (who lived/fought/died in that tower?).

Thank you! Those are all great tips and definitely things I will be incorporating in the future! I’m actually working on a much larger castle right now that will later be incorporated into a larger terrain piece with a mine entrance below!

This is really, really good! :D How do you reckon a more full-size castle of the same type would hold up?
@TheCraftCave6 ай бұрын
Thank you! I think it would do just fine! This was actually my very first project using XPS foam and since then almost all of my projects are built from it with no issues!

@@TheCraftCave What about a large (possibly modular/multi-level) ship made of XPS foam and whatever other ingredients you can think of? :0 I’ve always thought it would be cool to have a ship to be able to do battles on, and one that can be taken apart to reveal an interior would be extra cool in case the fighting goes below-deck!

@@Sanguivore I love that idea! That’s definitely something I’d love to do in the future! Maybe even a ruined/shipwrecked one with large pieces missing to have some playability! Maybe something that can rest against other types of terrain or be used as a “ghost ship” type build! Thank you so much for that idea! That’s great!
