I'm not good at making videos, and I know this video sucks. I made it to help a guy out.

The idea of improving the bearing puller by adding a socket onto the shaft was brilliant. That alone was worth the time invested in the video. Thanks for the tip!

----- use a split bearing puller ( the kind that separate into two halves and then bolt back securely together ) to pull the pulley - a 2 or 3 arm puller on the pulley rim is going to destroy it every time - the bearing puller pulls against the entire rim - you still might destroy it, but the other way is guaranteed to ----- most shafts aren't going to knock out so easy - use a solid drift instead of something with a plastic handle -- you can take out the shaft without removal of the slider half of the top, but it is a tight fit with some interference - a long 1/4 drive extension turned backwards just fits into the 1/2 inch shaft bore and works great - whatever you do, don't just beat the crap out of it - you can actually crack the cast iron housing at the bearing area - in the long run, removal of the top half is the way to go just be careful not to lose the 3 half-moon bearings that go between the adjusters and the top - as far as I know, you can't find replacements ---- put a 1/2 horse motor and carbide knives on these little jointers and they turn into super beavers

I had to watch three of them including yours before I even tried refurbishing mine and I figured out a couple of tricks on my own from it. Like cutting a channel in a piece of plywood to back up my pully. Those damn things are expensive and double tape helped out allot too. Guess I should have made a video😉...

Hi, Here is the Craftsman part number for reference "18127" and blade size 4-3/8-Inch x 11/16-Inch x 1/8-Inch, and here is a link to get some Freud C330 which will all so fit, www.ebay.com/c/1231095849. You don't have to buy them from eBay if you don't want to, just do a search for "Freud C330" and you will see that lots of places sell them. Here are some more links, the last link is for custom made blades that are just as good if not better then stock. www.freudtools.com/index.php/products/C330 globaltooling.net/products/planer-knives.html?gclid=CNP-iuHCw9ICFU6Vfgod6i8DWQ www.infinitytools.com/jointing-planing/jointer-planer-knives/carbide-tipped-planer-and-jointer-knives-6876

I have the same jointer and I'm wondering what size blades it takes. I cannot find a manual or part number on it. It's missing all the craftsman badges. Any help would be appreciated.

having a devil of a time getting the tables level and in parallel to each other. the sliding height adjuster thing has some play that I cannot get out. Any thoughts?
@AJDRAGON01
@AJDRAGON01 4 жыл бұрын
Do you have a straight edge and feeler gauges, if not invest in some, these jointers are a real pain to get parallel with out a straight edge. As for the thickness adjuster you have to bring the infeed table down below the thickness that you want and then adjust the table up to the thickness you want to cut at, doing this will eliminate that play you getting. I'm not very good at describing stuff so if you don't understand what I'm trying to say let me know, I may have to make another video.

@AJDRAGON01
@AJDRAGON01 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, The bearings I used are R8RS 1-1/8 x 1/2 x 5/16 you can usually get them in 10 packs for around $10 to $12 just about anywhere. Try Amazon or eBay.

Unfortunately parts for this machine have been discontinued, eBay and craigslist are more then likely going to be your best bet for finding them. Also try some of the woodworking forums to see if anyone is parting one out. Here is one forum you can check out www.woodworkingtalk.com, ask in the power tool section.
