This video showed everything I needed to know to replace the cable, but by the time I was done watching it I was dizzy from the rapid camera movement. Now I have to sit down for awhile while my stomach calms down and resume replacement in a few hours.🤕 Thanks for the info though

Thanks for this video. I just bought one of these old Craftsman lawn tractors c/w the replacement cable. So I needed to know where/how it installed.

Thanks for the video. Just ordered a cable from Amazon. Wish they would make that clip out of metal instead of plastic.
@sipthewater10 ай бұрын
I take a small zip tie or you can use a small hose clamp and go around the plastic clip to help it last longer.

What did u do about your cables being different sizes
@freedomhillbilly3483 жыл бұрын
Lol. The overall length doesn't matter. There's room to tuck away the extra. What matters is the amount of bare cable exposed, as it is that length that determines the throw or range of operation. That length is actually the same if you look closely.
@jmdenison2 жыл бұрын
I kind of thought maybe the cable stretched out over time and but 2 in is quite a bit. But I do know there's a lot of slack in it. Mine just broke. Then I'm always replacing those stupid front linkages
@johnbeck822 жыл бұрын
Video doesn't show the spring attaching to spindle. That's where mine broke, it seems obvious, but still, why not include that shot?
@freedomhillbilly3482 жыл бұрын
I simply didn't occur to me. Hopefully you were able to fix it. Thanks for watching!

Can this cable work on my lt1000 craftsman sit mower
@freedomhillbilly34811 ай бұрын
Yes.
@Dr_Won_Hung_Lo2 жыл бұрын
It's called the deck clutch cable when you go to search. I had to replace mine because the mower belt rubbed against the spring and broke the clip off the pully!
@braydonroberts48873 жыл бұрын
Does having the pto lever not being able to move to engage have something to do with it needing a new cable or could the engagement pully be frozen?
@freedomhillbilly3483 жыл бұрын
Yes to either or even both!

So you had a longer one to start and used a shorter one.how?
@freedomhillbilly3483 жыл бұрын
It's the throw, or how long the exposed part of the cable, that matters. The overall length doesn't matter (as long as it can get from the lever to the spring on the other end).

Freedom on your LT1000 when you increase your engine speed do your blades spin the same speed or faster
@freedomhillbilly3483 жыл бұрын
I never noticed. I put the throttle in detented position to run it. My guess is at lower engine rpm's it will bog down. I do notice that my belt slips upon first engagement and then it picks up once the blades spin up. But that just means I have an old stretched out belt.
@seangreenwood63073 жыл бұрын
I had a shorter one and bought a new one.got the longer one.won’t work.
@freedomhillbilly3483 жыл бұрын
Why not? Was the end different? Or was the exposed length of cable different?

I’m sorry to have to tell you this but, that shifter knob don’t come out that easy! How you did that I’ll never know because it looks like you skipped the part where you actually took it out and you did the same thing puttin it back in! If you’re gonna show people how to do things why don’t you show them the right way instead of telling them the battery is where the gas tank is! JMO
@freedomhillbilly3482 жыл бұрын
Obviously I did that for comedic effect. The knob screws off in a counterclockwise direction.
