Just what I needed! Now I have incentive to jump in.. My grass seems to slow down the blades.. I am supposing the belt is tired after 20 years.. Thank you!

My old belt was 88 inch but i have the same mower .. so i got an 88 inch replacement and its to small… so is 95 the correct size? I have a 42 inch deck as well.

My experience of belt change for LTX1000. Sears part #144959 but got the so-called replacement on-line maker "8TEN " - "Original equipment quality" C-BLT-0194 1/2"W 95 1/2"L big mistake, tight fitting and was chewed up the first time. Lousy company sent warranty replacement exactly the same type, DUH. Useless. Check your machine model number e.g. 944.xxxxx = Husqvarna. Purchased correct belt from local Husqvarna dealer (original tractor manufacturer) ,fitted perfect. Use local dealer whenever possible if wrong size, you can always return unused for exchange. Mail order very risky. PS: here in Canada we have Princess Auto, good range of belts sizes.

Just got a 2003 LT1000 w 16 HP motor. The later model 17.5 HP owners manual says there is no deck belt adjustment. The deck looks identical to mine but my manual doesn't have that comment or any deck belt adjustment procedure. My cable and tensioner system is good and no frozen pulleys but the belt would not engage, was too loose. I found that I could pry the left blade idler pulley to add tension to the belt. That pulley is part number 36 on the deck diagram, not the spring-actuated right pulley #145.

Before simply replacing your belt make sure to spin all pulleys to ensure they aren't frozen. Just replaced my belt and shredded it because the bearing was bad in one pulley.

If you have used your mower enough that the belt has to be replaced....take the deck off, disassemble, clean, replace anything worn, put deck back on machine. Takes a day maybe a couple depending. This is the right way to maintain your machine.

Hi, hope u can help' I have a craftsman older riding mower model 917.270532 my drive belt keeps popping off once in a while. But belt looks good. Is is loose when not ingauged. Not sure what's wrong. Also my blades won't disingauge unless I slow throttle down, and turn the engine off for a few seconds then turn it back on before it dies... thought u might be able to help. Thank you.

I had a similar issue, at least as far as the belt not disengaging, there was a spring that I found some time back that was missing from the top of the deck, right in the middle that pulled the brakes on the pulleys to stop the blades. I put this spring back on and it pulled the brake to stop the blades. As far as the belt popping off, there will be a pulley that has a spring on it that keeps tension on it, this spring may be lose missing or otherwise faulty, I would check that. On Mine there's 4 total pulleys on the drive belt and one of them in the middle will hold tension.

Agg, I just burned through two belts because I didn't take the deck off. There were two tension bars on one of the pulleys that I didn't see! Both of the belts cost me $43.00 bucks. Oh well, getting lazy cost me!

Why does my belt feel loose when I put it on? Is that normal?
@shawnwhitcomb82055 жыл бұрын
What size is the belt? 1/2" x ??" I do the same thing, avoid the big box stores, my local mom & pop shop sell them by size. My old belt did the same thing yours did, I carefully engage and disengage my belt at all times I never let it drop down quick as you explained. And I was also mid mowing and it just flew out of the deck and 10 feet across the yard. My deck has those plastic pully guards on both sides, maybe because I have the LTX1000 ?? Not sure, my deck is 42" and other than the guard missing on one side of yours they look identical.

It’s a toss-up which is quicker, to remove the deck or not, but it’s a good idea to remove the deck to check the mandrel bearings, as well as other components occasionally, and makes routing the belt much easier. As someone mentioned, make sure you route it on the correct side of the belt keepers, or it will rub against the back of the belt. Once on, I never engage the blades while at full throttle and I’m only on my second belt in many years.

I bought a used LT2000 not long ago that is in really good shape. Had it about a week and blew the deck belt. I've never changed one before, but I'm pretty handy and figured I could do it ( and I did ). Once I took the deck off I wanted to track the guy down I bought the mower from just so I could smack him up the side of the head. He'd taken ALL !!! of the belt safety features off of the deck so it would be easier to replace a deck belt. I've got 13 grandchildren and even though they know better than to approach a rider when it's in use, I had the fear of one them coming toward the mower and getting injured from a busted belt so I had to go out and purchase the safety parts. I mean, what an idiot.

I followed your directions. I changed the belt without removing the deck today. I got up to start the mower. I tried to begin mowing but there wasn't any tension in the gear. Suddenly the mower started and I cut my grass. Still no tension in the mower gear. It would move up and down with no stopping of the blades. I turned off the mower and the blades stopped. Please help. John Lade
@raguhmuffin10 жыл бұрын
John Lade apologies for the delayed reply, I had a similar issue and I was able to resolve it by finding the spring that was under the mower one day and realizing that it went in front of the tension gear from the top of the gear to a hole in the deck and the spring pulls it forward to release the belt and let the blades stop. Hope this helps.

Very thorough and super informative walk though video that accurately described the parts and most plausible reason for the problem, which fortunately for people like me, are now able to understand what to look for and how to fix the problem. Even, the best and most common-sensical advice of keeping your receipts and parts numbers for future purchases in this situation and knowing exactly what you need. Superbly done how-to video.... you should keep doing these, if you're not already, because you're great at it and obviously you know the subject matter to which you're speaking about!! Even the camera work and views you provide are great and very helpful! Two thumbs up and thank you!!

@raguhmuffin10 жыл бұрын
Apologies for the delayed reply, my deck belt was 42" or 106.7cm long and was part number 954-04060b / 754-04060b and the drive belt was #138255 or legacy #130801 which I think is 95"? I don't really remember.

What is the part number to the v-belt of your LT1000
@shawnwhitcomb82055 жыл бұрын
Part Numbers vary per belt manufacturer, better question would be to ask how long is the belt. Same question I have, my local part store sells them by size not by part number. Part Number maybe okay if you go yo Sears directly. But even the guy demonstrating the video did not go to Sears.

It would've been easier to remove the deck because, you could've inspect the whole linkage and find whatever that needs to be changed before something brakes ( worn bearings, stretched springs, excessive play in moving parts).
@dmbgurl86 жыл бұрын
His caption underneath the video clearly stated this was "HOW TO CHANGE RIDING MOWER DECK BELT WITHOUT REMOVING THE DECK" so I'm pretty sure he knows it would've been easier to remove it, but that wasn't the purpose and type of video he wanted to create.
