I can’t believe this. I just had a deck belt break yesterday on a customer’s lawn tractor! My first encounter with this issue! Timing is everything!

I have an old husqvarna ride on mower and it’s a mechanical blade engagement type. Is there any way to tension the pulley that engages the v belt to spin the blades? Mine spins but once it gets and sort of load on it it loses cutting power and stops spinning. All bearings are fine and pulleys are fine.

@Mechanical Mind Question: Can the belt wear out faster if I'm engaging the blades (tightening belt) while full throttle and riding mower is moving (I do this)? Instead, should I be stopped and have it at a slow idle, THEN engage belt, then speed idle to full? Or, does that even matter? Thank You in advance.

I had the issue of the belt coming off when disengaging the phone. It was the break pads were worn and letting the tension pulley get too close to the blade pulley. This put too much slack in the belt and it would jump off the pulley.

Where on earth would I get the belt guide for the idler pulleys? I can't find them at all

I had a belt chewed up on my Craftsman LT1000, found that one of the spindles bolts were loose and also worn so I decided to buy a rebuild kit and replaced both spindles, the idler and tensioner and rode it a few minutes and it got caught and shredded the belt. Turns out the belt got between the pulley and the little keeper piece that is supposed to keep the belt on the pulley. That wrecked my brand new belt that came with the kit. So I also found that the keeper was not in the right place when tightened. So that ate my old belt up and now waiting for a new belt to be delivered. This time Im going to tighten the belt without it running and watch if it is against anything its not supposed to be and then let off and see how loose it is. If worse comes to worse, I may have to fabricate some keepers to keep the belts from slipping off the spindles cause I took the plastic off cause of buildup on the deck.

I'm working pin a Deere D110 and it will just not key the belt on, all pulleys spin well, all keepers are in place, no grinding noises, no debris on deck, I am using OEM Deere belt, at this point I am about to give up.

Great Video However I Personally Would Not Have Put That Deck Back On With Out Wire Brushing The Rust And Splashing A Bit Of Paint On It. Maybe That's Me, But It Wouldn't Have Taken Much To Be Thorough Plus Its Showing You Care About Other Peoples Stuff...
