So why wouldn't it run? Was it the screen? The gaskets were still good so tell me what caused it to not run.
@SHONEY21Z2 ай бұрын
Passages in the carb had a little debris and old gas that started to tarnish. Cleaned with carb cleaner and air. The gaskets/diaphragm couldn’t likely been reused however for a few bucks it’s worth it to replace them.

Just installed a new carb and plug on mine and it still won’t start (this is after I took apart and cleaned two carbs I had on hand as well). I would assume at this point there may be carbon build up in the cylinder? I even poured a little fuel into the cylinder in hopes that it would help but nothing. Any tips?
@SHONEY21Z4 ай бұрын
Compression. Was ever run with straight gas? Does a compression test or pull the exhaust and look at the condition of the side of the piston. If that’s good check if you have spark, the coils could go bad and finally make sure fuel lines are in the correct position. If none of this. If it’s none of that, my guess would be bad crank seals or the O-ring at the back of the engine

How do I clean bad gas
@SHONEY21Z4 ай бұрын
Out of the carb? Or out of the tank? Best practice is to drain the tank and rinse with clean gas. Add fresh gas and prime the carb to flush the lines and the carb from the old gas.

Don't understand why not replace the needle and lever. Ylu have them in the kit.
@SHONEY21Z8 ай бұрын
Good question Richard. I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it, you absolutely can. However, I’ve rebuilt 100s of that’s carbs and rarely do I see a bad needle. If the carb was pretty gummed up, it’d be easier to replace the needle than to clean it. But both are normal practice. It’s the rubber and gaskets that go bad long before the needle. I’ve replaced both the lever and needle, but in this case, the carb looked pretty good. Great observation tho!
@toddzino588 ай бұрын
So, it was just dirty? Didn’t seem to have anything wrong with it when you took it apart?
@SHONEY21Z8 ай бұрын
Yeah. The fuel screen was full of fine dirty and fuel that started to gel. The gaskets weren’t horrible and could’ve been put back in but may go bad in the next 1-2 years. New gaskets and should be good for another 4-5 years, for only $6 more.

Same issue here, replaced everything. Maybe Got bad new carb. I used thumb over spark plug hole and blows my thumb off so I believe compressing is good, it has spark. Gonna try starting fluid see if I can get it to pop at least. How can you test crank seal.? I'm stumped on this one😅
@SHONEY21Z4 ай бұрын
@@thomastrotier4267if you pull the back cover off, these have an o-ring that seals the back of the crankcase. You can check that it’s in good shape and not pinched. The carb you got is aftermarket? If it doesn’t pop with squirting fuel directly in, check the timing on the flywheel. Try different spark plugs, and finally pull the exhaust and make sure the piston isn’t scratched. Might as well check the spark arrestor at that time too.

How do you remove the coil wire
