craftsman table saw motor repair pt 1

Craftsman 137 table saw broke the other day. It started smoking when I was pushing thick maple through and then just died, the motor wouldn't turn on. I took apart the motor and the bearing was burnt on and stuck so I angle grinded it off. Hopefully the new 6200z bearings i ordered will work and save the saw. That's a press fit bearing. Prying with a screwdriver will not get it off. The new bearing needs to be pressed on as well of you can potentially damage it as well.

That’s like the one I need for my Craftsman table saw , a motor or a Armature to fit one like it .

The bearing was most likely pressed onto the shaft. Breaking away the outer raceway and removing the ball bearings (or needles depending on the motor) you should be able to take a dremmel or die grinder you can cut a small slit in the raceway without going all the way through to the shaft. Then you can take a chissel and beat the slot you cut, and the bearing raceway should snap in half and come off easily.

How did you get the armature out of its housing. Have Ryobi tablesaw got everything apart but can't get the armature free from the housing

I tried a screwdriver to remove because I couldn't get my pullers behind the bearing to pull off and I ended up damaging the black plastic or ceramic underneath the bearing. Nothing too serious but I would prefer not to do any unnecessary damage.

We ended up listing the saw on craigslist and somebody came to pick it up, they said they were going to try and install a replacement motor that they had

I discovered a problem yesterday with my 113.298030 Craftsman table saw when I tried to tilt the blade to cut a 45 degree. Beyond 10 degrees it got increasingly hard to turn the wheel. I did everything I could to get it freed up to no avail....could only get to 20 degrees. Brushed the screw rod, lubed it everywhere I could. Don't know why it's so hard to turn...do you have any ideas short of dismantling the saw???

There are end stops on the screw rod, you might have to move those, one of your end stops may be preventing the blade from tilting more, good luck with the fix

The screws and two 1/4" nuts that hold the wheel you turn to adjust the tilt.they can't be to tight.they are right behind the wheel holding it the leg .I thought mine were loose so I tightened them up,then it was very hard to turn the wheel so loosened them up and it turned easier.

mine just crumbled, the plastic body got all brittle

You did not know what you are doing . It is a press fit
