I have to say, I have turned wrenches on diesels for over 20 years now and these dang carb linkages mess me up more often than not. Thanks for the quick and simple video, to the point and I didn't have to listen to someone talk about how well it cuts grass.

Every video I watched said the linkage went into the second hole on the carb... Even though I could see that it had been in the first hole (I figured someone had 'worked' on it and put it in the wrong hole because the spring plate, on the carb was bent). Mower ran like crap so I figured after watching videos on replacing vs. cleaning it was worth less than my time to replace it than clean it. Figuring a new carb should have everything back to spec, I straightened the spring plate. Every video, also, said the spring went to the governor top hole and the linkage went into the bottom hole. It was way over revving. Thank you for setting the record straight. New carb, now runs like new and I can hear the governor slow down the speed immediately after it starts. Thank you for preventing me from blowing up my mower!

this is the best youtube video devoted to the specific challenge as to where to put the carburettor linkages ...I like many others am just an average Joe who likes to 'tinker ' around , trying to fix stuff and forgot to take pics before I so easily and excitedly began the disassembly ...you saved me a lot of grief ....good video and thanks

My governor rods got disconnected when I removed the carb and intake manifold. The old craftsman is similar to this. Thanks, got it hooked up right, and started it on the first pull. P.S. All I needed to do was clean out the jet, so removal of the unit wasn't necessary ... but i did take the opportunity to give the whole thing a good cleaning.

Hi, came back to Michigan to help my parent during this epidemic and need to mow the yard. Well, attempted to clean the carb and the linkage wire fell off. Not sure where to connect it too. It is from a craftsman Eager 1 4pm. It appears to connect to the top hole and not sure where to connect to on the other side. Is it the hole you connect it here? Model of mower is 917.383410 and engine is 143.364062. High and low is a round nob with and arrow on it. Than’ you for any help, stay healthy.

Hey doublewide 6 I picked up a craftsman pressure washer with a similar carb setup. It doesnt appear the throttle does anything but engage the choke. Pretty sure there should be a high and low on the engine but I can't seem to see where the throttle engages the butterfly. Do you have something that shows where the throttle is attached to this carb?

The breather hose to the right of the governor.... interferes with the governor... how is that little plastic box that connects the breather secured up out of hte way?
@pascalturgeon147710 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have an issue with cold starting my mower with a Tecumseh engine. Actually it starts, but I need little help from someone that needs to play the governor while I'm pulling the cord. Once the engine is warm, no issue to start it back alone. Also, the engine seems to work just fine otherwise. I wonder if it could be caused by a worn spring without enough tension. What do you think?Type or paste your English text here and click on the "Check Text" button.
@doublewide610 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the choke is not shutting all the way, so the mixture is not rich enough to start. Is the air filter in the air cleaner box? Some mowers will not start without it.
@pascalturgeon147710 жыл бұрын
doublewide6 It is in the box for sure. Not so sure it is that clean though.
@doublewide610 жыл бұрын
Remove the dirty air filter and place a clean dry folded washcloth in the air box and see if it will start. Look in the carb and make sure choke is shutting all the way. Also, Watch my videos on how to start a snowblower that won't start, or search my channel for lawnmower carburetor repair. Preform a carburetor cleaning and post back the results.

+bmark0610 .. bend tab to make spring longer ... and in this video the choke spring is not in the proper position ...it should be close to the set screw ... I cannot see where the top of the spring is here

The tinyest itty bitty thing can clog te The fuel tube, i know i know im griping lol :)
@wrongmower10 жыл бұрын
Because there are times i cant find my smallest tip cleaner to make sure those holes are not clogged, but the larger engines on riding mowers are pretty good, the older small engines had a defect with the oil tube where it sticks into the engine, the rubber seal would not seat good.
