Excellent presentation. I purchased the unit from a big box store here in Michigan. I properly charged the battery (it took 4 hours) and did a proper battery install. I could not get the unit to function more than 5-10 cycles without having to remove the battery and try again. These were small twigs/ branches. The issue was not the "timeout" as described in the owners manual. There seemed to be no issue with the safety switch. It simply would not cycle unless I removed the battery and did a reinstall. Yes the switch was down. I did notice many times before the shut down, the last cycle seemed just a fraction of a second late to reopen after the jaws closed. Then it was non operable. I also waited for a time just to see if it was some type of thermal overload defect. No luck. The issue was present with empty or loaded jaws. I rechecked the manual for troubleshooting and looked for other reviews with similar issues but found none. Very nice design. I like the fact that the jaws are a greater distance from the grip compared to some other manufacturers because it helps with the reach. I did not do an exchange. I did a refund. The 30 minutes was both impressive and disappointing. When it worked it was very nice. I did not have the chance to test it closer to it's rated capacity. Only empty jaws and small twigs. Spring time growth requires a decision. Repurchase the same unit and try again or try another manufacturer. I appreciate the video packed with information. I wanted the purchase to be a success. Maybe some other time but for now it might be a good idea to wait and let this batch of product filter through in case it is a quality control failure. A recall. Regards.

Thank you for the detailed comment, Oddly I had the exact same issue with mine, after some time the unit eventually failed and I got a warranty replacement, so far the warranty replacement is not doing what you described, It was so frustrating when it would happen, I make a living with these tools so some days I would experience this issue 40-50 times, I am so thankful the new one seems to not have the problem. Thank you for watching.

Thanks. I just bought a Black and Decker that looks just like it, probably the same. I already had a B&D string trimmer and a pole chain saw that used the same 20 V battery, so now I have 5 batteries and two chargers. No excuse for a break. I bought the pole saw because the batteries matched, and then discovered my yard was full of downed branches that needed cutting up. I tried handhelds, and discovered the operation really required three hands. Pruning shears need two and you need another to pick it up and dispose of the cutting. These battery operated cutters take care of that, since they just need one hand. Did the huge plum, now I can move to the huge apple and pear, then the pine.

@@jason-white two things, when I push the safety it cuts without pulling the main trigger!!! The other thing, blade replacement pops the plastic red cover off and swings the blade off the teeth. It’s really messed up. My main use is cutting coconuts off the bract. But do use it for pruning branches.

@@terrimulroy8655 The first part is a deal breaker for me, if they safety is not functioning right get rid of it, These things can take your hand off in less than a second, don't risk it.

@@jason-white you’re right! The safety thing happened after the other thing, but yes, I mentioned it first because it is for me too.

I just bought one. I tested it out, it works great, but I can't get the battery back out. I have used these battery types before, pretty easy, just push the button down to release the battery, but this one is stuck. I don't want to keep it in there. Ugh.

Unfortunately I have found a lot of V20 batteries fit super tight in the tools. Just give it a little extra persuasion and it will come out. Thanks for watching

I like mine but if I hold the safety switch down constantly & I don't make a cut for a few seconds I have to release the safety switch & repress it b4 it will continue working. My hands are very stiff, so it's alot of aggravation to have to constantly be letting it go and regrabbing it again. Does urs do the same thing if u don't cut constantly if I lean ovr to cut off a limb I have to reach out for, it stops working tht quick. I don't like just keeping it going every second cas it's very dangerous to not be really careful & watchful. Do u have any suggestions ??
