Neither one of those tools (drills) are designed to drive in big lag bolts. Thats what impact drivers are for. It would seem the Bauer actually has overload protection in that regard!

Great review. I have some of the new craftsman power tools they aren't too bad. I don't think you could do wrong by getting them over anything from harbor freight

I think those new Craftsman are literally old DeWALT products with altered casing. I have the hammer drill variant, and it has not disappointed me so far since I never expected a lot out of it anyway. There are a lot of bad reviews on the Craftsman, still... but it is not really that bad if you do not abuse it.

Great job on the review, I have a Bauer 20v drill and it stopped on occasion and I found out that one of the motor brushes wasn't making contact with the commutator in the motor armature, and the springs to hold the brushes in are weak, however, it would be a great drill if it had a brushless motor.

they recently released a brushless drill, its pretty good i imagine but i already have the hercules brushless

I have both of these and the Bauer has higher torque and more RPM.

I like my Bauer tools they have been working for me for years, they have good deals like buying a battery and get a free tool.l got impact for 40 bucks and grinder for the same price , circ circ saw and tire inflator for 50 each, glue gun for 20 ,all started with drill kit. They are not pro grade tools but I built sheds and a lot of remodeling projects. Brad nailer is good also. I buy what I need and get my money 's worth.

I had that same issue with my bauer jigsaw. It would randomly stop working when sawing pine. It wasn't stuck or anything because I was able to pull it out just fine. Returned it to HF with their crappy 90 day return warranty. Is there a shutoff safety feature when it reaches some type of capacity when drilling?

My assumption is yes. More than likely to prevent it from overheating and frying the battery
